About Our District: The Kenton County School District's System of Excellence is comprised of 18 schools intensely focused on preparing students to compete in the global work market. Highly trained staff, focused on individual students needs, ensure maximum performance and success for each student. The district's clear focus is guided by three goals: Goal 1: All students will perform at or above grade level in numeracy and literacy at each transition point. Goal 2: All professional practices will be based on a common understanding of quality instruction and best practice for every student, in every classroom, every day. Goal 3: Beginning in the fourth grade, all students will participate in at least one activity providing a meaningful connection to school beyond the regular classroom. Our commitment to innovation and unparalleled business and community engagement buttress these goals, creating a circle of support for our students and their futures.
How We Ensure Educational Equity: The district's three goals work to ensure that all students are educated with equity and excellence. Additional resources and structures to support these goals include Preschool, Family Resource /Youth Service Centers, Reducing Barriers to Learning Committees in each school, Extended School Services, Reading Intervention and data analysis of student performance by demographic subgroups. A Professional Practices Rubric is used by teachers to provide continuous improvement opportunities. Teachers regularly participate in job embedded professional development through learning communities.

How We Are Doing
Kentucky's Interim School Testing and Accountability System has three parts: the Kentucky Core Content Tests (KCCT); readiness tests by grade level; and other measures of a school's performance, including attendance, retention and dropout rates. This interim system will be replaced in the 2011-12 school year by a new testing and accountability system structured as required by statute. The goal is that, by 2014, nearly all students will score proficient or distinguished in every subject area tested.
