Directions:
1. Choose one biome/ecosystem from the table above and research a particular location in that biome.
2. Using 3 (or more) informational resources, create a project that includes all of the information listed on the research sheet.
3. Choose one of the following format options for your project. (See attached explaination for further details.)
a. Museum Box ()
b. Museum Box and 3-Dimensional model of biome
c. Brochure and 3-Dimensional model
Significant class time will be allotted to research and project creation. BRING YOUR OWN FLASH DRIVE OR DISC!!!!! However, students will need to devote some time at home to this project in order to finish on time.
4. Refer to the attached rubric to see how points are awarded.
• 10 points per day will be deducted for late projects
• Refer to the works cited sheet in order to complete bibliography
Project Format Option A: Museum Box Only
All information is to be displayed using the Museum Box website () Your Museum Box should include typed answers to all the questions on the research sheet. Additionally, pictures, charts/graphs, videos, and/or sound bites should be used to enhance the typed information. Don’t forget to include a bibliography. In this format option, your Museum Box is worth the full 200 pts. so you need to make sure your content is worthy of earning all those points!
Project Format Option B: Museum Box & 3-D Model
Use the Museum Box website () to display typed answers to questions on the research sheet. Your Museum Box should also include any pictures and charts/graphs needed to covey information that your 3-D model can not. Don’t forget to include a bibliography. Your museum box will be worth 100pts.
AND
You will construct a 3-Dimensional model (shoebox size) of your biome that displays the terrain, animal life, plant life, and natural resources available in that area. Your model will be worth an additional 100 pts.
Project Format Option C: Brochure & 3-D Model
All information is to be displayed as a 2-sided color brochure.
Use MS Publisher or Microsoft Word or
Your brochure should include color pictures, typed information, charts/graphs, and a bibliography. Your brochure will be worth 100 pts.
AND
You will construct a 3-Dimensional model (shoebox size) of your biome that displays the terrain, animal life, plant life, and natural resources available in that area. Your model will be worth an additional 100 pts.
Research Sheet
1. Choose 1 biome and a particular location in that biome? Provide a labeled map.
2. Research your chosen location. Provide a color picture(s) and description of the type of plant life that grows in that region of your biome.
3. Provide a color picture(s) and description of the types of animal life that call that region of your biome home.
4. Describe the climate of that region of your biome. What is the average monthly precipitation? What is the average monthly temperatures (highs and lows)? Chart or graph your results.
5. Describe any major weather events that occur in your biome. (hurricanes, typhoon, tornados, monsoons, blizzards, droughts)
6. What natural resources are found in that region of your biome? (minerals, precious metals, oil, etc.)
7. Describe the human presence and its impact on your biome.
8. Describe any other unique characteristics of your biome, such as seasonal information.
