The HR and Compliance Manager will be fully responsible for:managing and delivering the on-site HR function including recruitment, performance management, retention, and talent management and employee relations. providing an operational service to line managers on a range of HR functions including payrollA key priority for this role will be administering and maintaining the Single Central Register. A central GDST HR team works with the school to provide expert advice, policies and procedures and support.Accountable to:Director of Finance and OperationsImportant functional relationships:HeadmistressSenior Leadership TeamLine ManageDeputise for Director of Marketing when absent(All Front Office Staff, TRO department, Apprentice)AccountabilitiesImplementing and promulgating HR policies and practices in line with current GDST procedure and legislation to support an effective and fully compliant working environment, as well implementing and overseeing ISI regulatory compliance policies.Providing best practice advice to managers and members of staff on day to day employment matters and compliance with GDST employment policies, in liaison with the GDST HR Business Partners.To be responsible for maintaining the Single Central Register and the Human Resources database. Ensure that all personnel files and records and HR documentation are accurately maintained and in line with best practice.In conjunction with the Deputy Head Academic and Deputy Head (Pastoral) organise the implementation of GDST performance management processes for teaching and support staff, ensuring the identification of training needs and the following up of agreed targets for development.Working with the GDST HR Business Partners to help them support line managers in managing and resolving employee issues in a constructive and timely manner. Participate in meetings at the School which relate to whole-school issues, advising managers and staff on GDST policy/procedure changes and their impact on the School. To maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job, participating in appropriate training and development activities.Participating in staff meetings to enhance a positive working environment and develop a well-informed workforce, including the monitoring and managing of absence and referrals to occupational health.Discussing, advising on and identifying potential cost saving strategies in staffing and managing any staffing changes across the school with the Headmistress.Oversee induction process of support staff.Assisting line managers in managing employee absence in line with the GDST Sickness Absence and Ill Health Policy.Managing, organising and administering all recruitment activity from advertising to selection days, ensuring this is targeted and managed to attract and secure the best candidates.Carry out exit interviews with all exiting staff, using information from the interviews to inform areas for anising a programme of staff induction and monitoring the staff handbook in consultation with the SLT.Overseeing the issuing of all employment related documents including job offers and contracts of employment and ensuring compliance with all relevant GDST policies and procedures. Overseeing HR processes to ensure responsibilities are met with regard to GDST policies and procedures.Assessing the school’s HR systems and processes and making recommendations to the SLT, drawing up plans for improvement as necessary.Making such reports to the Headmistress or School Governing Board as may from time to time be required.Supporting the implementation and management of Performance Related Progression across the school. Acting as Secretary to the moderation panel.Working closely with the Deputy Head Pastoral to ensure that Safeguarding training procedures are implemented and evidenced. Working with the DFO and other key members of SLT, help to ensure regulatory compliance in a variety of key areas in the school.Assist and advise the Headmistress on overseeing any disciplinary or capability procedures, in conjunction with HR from GDST.Monthly HR proceduresPrepare monthly payroll timesheets for Trust return ready for DFO to authorise.Prepare Trust absence returns – ensure receipt of sickness certificates paperwork and log details on SIMS. Ensure return to work interviews are held and recorded.Produce Annual Staff increment letters and liaise with Trust regarding pay calculations and time allowance calculations.Assist with Annual Census.Annual HR proceduresProduce the yearly part time teaching staff salary letters in liaison with Deputy Head (Academic) and ensure payroll paperwork is completed and forwarded to Trust Office.Update staff changes on SIMS etc from annual information sheets produced and ensure Trust are informed of changes where necessary.GeneralReport promptly to your line manager when any aspect of this job description cannot be met.Assist with other tasks which may be agreed from time to time.To maintain a professional approach in communications.To participate in the Trust annual review process (PDP).
