TurnItIn within Schoology Error Message says

TurnItIn within Schoology

Error Message says "LTI Error: The field `.........' is not a valid email address."

Who: This error message my come up for either the student or teacher when they try to access the TurnItIn assignment within Schoology

Why: Two possible reasons are... (A) Some students and/or teachers had gone to instead or before we had a District license for Schoology. Our District website is different and is located at . When they were on the regular they used their District email address to sign up. See page 1 for solution.

Or

(B) The students and/or teachers District email address is not in their account settings in the MCS Schoology , it did not carry over initially from the sync with the District directory of email addresses. See page 4 for solution.

Solutions:

(A) Solution in 9 Steps

1. Go to and click Log In in the top right corner

2. Use your district email address (for students it is studentIDNumber@monet.k12.ca.us and for teachers it is lastname.f@monet.k12.ca.us) and password if you remember it.

Note: this password created is not necessarily the same one as the district password you have, it is not sync with our District password as it was created by you when first signing up. If you forgot, just under where you type your password is "Forgot your password" link. This will send an email for you to reset their password. The email will be sent to Outlook on the Web in Office 365.

If you do remember your password and you are able to log in then skip to Step 4. If not, then go to Step 3.

3. Go to and log in with their district email address and district password to Office 365 and click the Mail tile to check email. Here you will need to follow the email from Schoology to reset your password.

4. Once you log into you will want to click the drop-down arrow in the top right corner next to their name and choose "Account Settings"

5. Then you will want to delete your primary email address and click the "Save Changes" button

6. Next you will log out of and now go to and sign in with your District username (not full email address) and District password 7. Once you log into MCS Schoology you will want to click the drop-down arrow in the top right corner next to your name and choose "Account Settings"

8. Finally, you will want to add your full District email address to the Primary Email box and click the "Save Changes" button

9. Now the TurnItIn Assignment will work!
