DESCRIPTION

The Young Adult Internship Program (YAIP) is DYCD's workforce development program targeting young adults between 16 and 24 who are not working and not in school. It is a 14-week paid internship program which provides NYC youth with extensive job training and educational opportunities, as well as job placement and follow-up services.

The In-School Youth (ISY) program provides college and work readiness training to juniors and seniors at risk of dropping out of high school. In addition, students participate in service learning projects to promote awareness of current issues in their surrounding communities. All In-School Youth program participants are given the opportunity to participate in a paid internship program during the summer.

The Out-of-School Youth (OSY) program serves young adults between the ages of 16?24 who are not connected to school or work and need assistance upgrading their educational and occupational skills. OSY programs are operated by community-based organizations in all five boroughs, and offer a wide range of services designed to increase young adults' success in the workplace and in their personal lives.

Young People's Chorus of NYC 7-18

The award-winning Young People's Chorus of New York City? has a limited number of openings available in its after-school program. Interested boys and girls ages 7 to 18 are encouraged to tryout, and no prior music education is necessary. Auditions are by appointment and take place throughout the year. The audition process for the youth chorus is simple: candidates sing a song of their choice and must be able to sing basic music patterns. TADA!'s internship program offers students a hands-on opportunity to learn about the operations of a renowned youth theater and arts education organization. They are always looking for smart, motivated people to join their team. Applicants can send a resume and a cover letter telling why you're interested in TADA! College and graduate student interns can arrange to receive credit and may choose to complete a project in conjunction with their internship with the approval of TADA!'s management and they can work around your class schedule. Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow (OBT) offers YAIP Plus for youth who are currently or have previously been involved in the foster care or juvenile justice systems. It is a 14-week internship program (3 weeks of job training classes followed by 11-week internship) for NYC youth between the ages of 16-24 who are not working and not in school. The program offers youth extensive job training as well as follow-up services.

NYPD Law Enforcement Explorers 14-20



Law Enforcement Exploring is a community service, career-oriented program designed to educate young men and women, ages 14-20, about Law Enforcement. Exploring reaches out to New York City's young adults in every community to help build up relations between the community and New York City Police Department. Explorers are taught the importance of higher education, self-discipline, and respect for authority while they actively participate in community service projects and other Exploring events.

NYPD Summer Youth Police Academy 10-16



The Summer Youth Police Academy is designed to establish a positive relationship between the Police Department and the City's youth and to educate young people about the challenges and responsibility of police work. The Youth Police Academy is a six (6) week program that will hold sessions five (5) days a week. The Academy will open at 8:30 am in the morning and dismissal will be 2:00 pm in the afternoon. Students will attend classroom sessions with lectures, roleplays and topical demonstrations by police officers in the areas of law, behavioral science, drug prevention and gang resistance.

FDNY Exploring Program 14-20

The FDNY Exploring Program is part of the Greater New York Councils Exploring Program. The Exploring Program gives New Yorkers (aged 14 to 20) the opportunity to gain valuable insight into a career at the Fire Department, while simultaneously building plans for their futures. The innovative program helps participants gain work experience and assistance with educational and fitness requirements that are critical to successfully pursuing a career at the FDNY. Participants also develop contacts with FDNY Firefighters, EMTs, Paramedics and others already on the job.

The Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment is a single entity consisting of the Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting (OFTB); NYC Media, the official network of the City of New York. MOME aims to develop the City's diverse media functions, encourage local economic activity in the entertainment industry as well as spur the development of new media. The mission of MOME is to enhance government communications by making information more accessible to the public and to leverage technology to aid in transparency. Central Park Conservancy offers this full-time, paid internship for high school students, which gives them the opportunity to support the Conservancy's horticulture, visitor services, and public programs departments. Interns work five days a week with individual schedules varying depending on the position (some include weekends). Every Friday all interns work together as a group to complete special projects in Central Park, or to go on trips to other parks and environmental organizations.
