Science in the News Scrapbook

Science is a field of study that is always changing. New observations or discoveries are made; new technologies are developed. There always seems to be something in the news about science and technology. Over the next few months you are going to collect 12 articles from newspapers, internet or current magazines on something related to the field of science and technology. You should look to a variety of sources for your articles. For each article, you will write a brief summary and submit them in an orderly fashion. Your summary will include the following information:

Re-tell - Summarize the article into your own words briefly (2-3 sentences).

Relate - How is this article related to our science course – which unit it applies to?

Reflect - What are two things you learned from reading this article?

Required Content:

➢ 3 articles must be related to chemistry

➢ 3 articles must be related to astronomy

➢ 3 articles must be related to ecology

➢ 3 articles must be related to electricity

➢ At least 3 of the articles must have Canadian content (it must be about a Canadian or about Canada’s involvement in a project – these should be clearly indicated in your summary)

➢ each article must be labeled as either (chemistry, astronomy, ecology or electricity)

➢ Canadian articles must be highlighted so the reader knows it is a Canadian article
