Scientist of the Month Bulletin Board – Extra Credit
Directions: Each month, a different scientist will be displayed on the “Scientist of the Month” bulletin board. For extra credit points, I challenge you to research two facts about the scientist. You will need to write or type these fact onto a SMALL piece of paper and display it on the bulletin board. Your facts must differ from the facts that your classmates have already displayed on the board! Hint: The earlier in the month that you research your facts, the easier it is to find unique facts! You must include the sources that you got your facts from and your name on every fact paper. Each month’s facts will be worth 5 points of extra credit. This assignment allows you to have the opportunity to earn a few extra credit points each month!
Possible fact topics:
➢ Information about the scientist’s childhood
➢ Information about the scientist’s educational background
➢ Important scientific discoveries made by the scientist
Information Needed on Each “Fact Paper”:
➢ Two well-researched facts pertaining to the scientist of that particular month
➢ Information about the source in which the fact was found (website URL, book title and author, etc.)
➢ Your name
➢ Date that you turn your fact in
Rules to follow when turning in your fact:
➢ Read the bulletin board to ensure that your facts are unique! It is YOUR responsibility to ensure that no one else has turned in your fact yet. If you turn in your facts and I (or others) realize that someone has already used that fact, you will not receive credit and must find another fact!
➢ Show me your facts to receive your 5 points each month
➢ Obtain a push pin from my desk and hang up your facts on the bulletin board
NOTE: PLEASE KEEP THIS PAPER IN YOUR BINDER/NOTEBOOK THE ENTIRE YEAR SO THAT YOU CAN REFERENCE IT EACH MONTH!
