Annunciation Parish@Saint Gabriel ChurchJune 5, 2016Pastors Thoughts In the 2nd Reading this weekend, St. Paul reflects on how he responds to God calling him to follow him, a call which transformed his life, and led him places he never imagined going to and to do things he never conceived of doing. That is a pattern God continues to do with us all, calling us to follow Him, trusting in His love and wisdom, often challenging us to go and do things - good and fruitful things - that we had never anticipated ourselves doing. This might be in the context of our families, our relationships, our jobs, with our friends, in our church…. This is most especially true for those, who like the Apostle, are called to be consecrated Religious and ordained Priests. Their life is all about so believing in the Lord and His purposes that they offer themselves in ongoing readiness to serve wherever He should indicate. This has once again become so for me your Pastor. Through the direction of my Provincial Superior, I came to this Parish 7 years ago to begin to serve you as your Pastor. I truly believe this but reflected God’s desire that I do so, both for your good and for mine as His servant. Now, God, through my Provincial Superior has directed me to another task in His service: to assume the oversight of the training programs of our US Province of the Oblates of St. Joseph, helping young men understand if this is their calling and prepare them to serve if it is so. I will also directly assume responsibility for the seminarians residing in our House of Studies near Philadelphia, offering direct and personal guidance as they undertake the demanding studies and ministry training that will lead them to be able to be effective Oblates of St. Joseph. All of this will take place after my departure from the Parish on July 24. The following weekend, July 30/31, the Provincial Superior, with the approval of the Bishop who confers the office of Pastor, has directed Fr. Mariusz Beczek, OSJ to begin his service as Pastor here at Holy Annunciation. Both Fr. Daniel and Fr. Victor will continue in their roles as Assistant Pastors. Fr. Mariusz will be arriving in early July so that he can begin to study his duties and all of us can begin to know each other. All of this is God’s working in our midst! While I continue for the next few weeks as Pastor, I will seek to continue to serve you and lead you to the Lord who is the source and goal of our lives, as well as preparing myself to assume a very different service focused on the personal formation of young men for God’s service. I invite us all to pray and ask God to help us grow in faith and look forward to the new ways in which we will follow Him in all our lives!PARISH HAPPENINGS This weekend we will have the Little Sisters of the Poor asking - begging! - for our support of their work in the care for the poor and elderly, which is their great mission all over the world, including the US. Our generosity is another way of continuing the works of Mercy our Holy Father invites us to embrace in this Holy Year.MPB COMMUNITY PLAYERSThe MPB Community Players will present their 8th Annual Variety Show, "Summer Fun," for two shows only, on Saturday, June 4 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, June 5, at 2:00 p.m., at Catholic Social Services Family Center (the former Our Lady of Mt.
