[Pages:5]MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT FOR CO-OP ACTIVITIES BETWEEN HETTINGER PUBLIC SCHOOL AND SCRANTON PUBLIC SCHOOL

This agreement is between the Hettinger Public School Board and the Scranton Public School Board, concerning the forming of cooperatives. This all sports co-op will begin with the 2011- 2012 school year.

1. The co-op teams will be called the Hettinger-Scranton ___________________.

2. Co-op colors are black, orange, red and white.

3. The co-op recognizes _________________________, a collaboration of both schools' music departments, as the school song.

4. Financing the Co-op Sports and Activities: Schools will use the revenues from each program to offset expenses. Accounts will be balanced at the beginning of each year. If the account is in the "black" these funds will remain in the account for future needs. The schools will share expenses and revenues on the following percentage of participation.

0%-25% 26%-35% 36%-65% 66%-74% 75% and up

- 25% of the funding - 35% of the funding - 50% of the funding - 65% of the funding - 75% of the funding

If the co-op ever dissolves, the host school will keep any money that is left in the co-op sports' activity accounts.

5. Activity passes will be valid in both schools for co-op activities.

6. Wednesday night is church night; no activities will be scheduled after 6:00 p.m. Traveling schools will be home by 6:30 p.m.

7. Eligibility policies have been developed and eligibility will run from Wednesday to Wednesday.

8. Formal evaluations shall be done on all coaches by the collaboration of athletic directors from each school.

9. Each school will establish a co-op committee consisting of two board members, Athletic Director and an Administrator. The committee shall meet in November and June. Other meetings will be scheduled as needed.

10. Equipment: Coaches will inventory equipment and will submit requests for new equipment to the school administrators. The administrators will collaborate on the purchase of these items that are not considered consumables. Equipment will be kept at the host school.

11. Coaches' salaries will be determined by the co-op salary schedule.

12. Coaches/Directors will observe a chain of command beginning with the Athletic Directors.

13. The Administration and Athletic Directors will be involved in interviewing and hiring of coaching staff. A school may waive this option if their student participation in the activity is marginal.

14. Concessions: The school in which the game/activity takes place will keep concession revenue.

15. Admission: The price of admission will be consistent with the area and each school.

16. Transportation: For the sake of practicing transportation will be provided by the individual school districts. In most cases if a coach from the transporting school exists, that coach will also be responsible for practice transportation. If no coach exists it will be left to the school district to arrange transportation or have participants transport themselves. For games however, a record of mileage and driver expenses will be kept to split proportionally.

17. Communication: There shall be a chain of command with communication coming from the Athletic Directors from both schools. Any special events (team meals, pep rallies, award nights, team gatherings, etc.) will be communicated well in advance so students and parents have plenty of notice.

INDIVIDUAL SPORTS AGREEMENTS

FOOTBALL:

Uniforms:

New uniforms will be purchased and the cost shared equally between school districts.

Home Games:

Generally, the home football schedule will consist of 4 games per year. Because of equal commitment but disproportional school sizes, Scranton will have 1 home varsity football game per year when participation in high school is under 40% of the total team membership (based on the previous year's 8th ? 11th grade participation numbers). If participation is 40% or greater, the home football games will be split equally. The co-op host school is responsible for the contracting of officials, the school where the home game is played will be responsible for readying the field, ticket-takers, facilities, etc.

Junior Varsity and Junior High home games will be equally divided.

Play-off Games:

Play-off games will be held in Hettinger unless Scranton has 45% of participants on the team. In this case, Hettinger will host the first play-off game and Scranton will host the next. If only one football play-off game is played during the year Scranton has 45% of participants, Scranton will host the next play-off game if participation is held at 45%.

PRACTICES:

Scranton will receive 25% of the practices for all football programs. If the percentage of participants is higher (programs will be calculated separately; varsity, junior varsity, junior high), practices will coincide with the funding commitment percentage. The Athletic Directors will collaborate with the coaches to schedule these dates well in advance.

Volleyball:

Uniforms:

New uniforms will be purchased and the cost shared equally between school districts.

Home Games:

Because of equal commitment but disproportional school sizes, the home game schedule will be determined from the previous year's 8th ? 11th grade participation numbers. When participation is under 30%, that school will host 25% of the home games. Participation that ranges between 30 and 40% will result in that school hosting 33% of the home games and all home games will be shared equally if both schools represent over 40% of the participants. The co-op host school is responsible for the contracting of officials, the school where the home game is played will be responsible for readying the field, ticket-takers, facilities, etc.

PRACTICES:

The Athletic Directors will collaborate with the coaches to schedule these dates well in advance.

JH Volleyball:

The Junior High Volleyball teams will use Reeder as their home facility. Games and practices will be held in Reeder unless both Athletic Directors agree to use a different venue for games or practices due to gym availability.

Basketball:

Participation that ranges between 30 and 40% will result in that school hosting 33% of the home games and all home games will be shared equally if both schools represent over 40% of the participants. With concurrent seasons, the Athletic Directors will schedule practice times and locations to best accommodate the schedules of the athletes.

TRACK AND GOLF: When coaches at each site exist, practices will take place at the home site of the athlete. Golf offs will be held in Hettinger as scheduled through the Athletic Directors from both schools. Team building practices for both track and golf will also be scheduled through the Athletic Directors.

SPEECH AND CROSS COUNTRY TRACK: It is expected that the majority of these practices can be held at individual schools under the practice plan of the coach or activity director. Coaches will communicate with the Athletic Directors when group practices are needed. (It is understood that Bowman County currently is the home school for cross country. Interested participants from Scranton will join this existing program with Hettinger and Bowman County) WRESTLING: All practices & meets will be held in Hettinger Amending Co-op Agreement: The above co-op agreement has been developed by Hettinger and Scranton Public School through mutual collaboration.
