PUBLIC SQUARE CONSTRUCTION TRAFFIC INFORMATION

Downtown Construction ? Beginning as early as March 1, 2015-June 2016

As Downtown Cleveland continues to grow as a destination to live, work and play, improvements are being made to our infrastructure, streets and public spaces. These projects will enhance the momentum we are currently experiencing and create a sustainable foundation for the future of Downtown Cleveland.

What to Know about Downtown Construction:

? Traffic and bus changes during the renovation of Public Square could go into effect as early as February 23.

? Public Square is the largest of the construction projects breaking ground Downtown in the coming months. Other projects include infrastructure improvements and road resurfacing to enhance the appearance and usability of Downtown Cleveland.

? is the source for up-to-date information on street closures, accessibility and alternate routes during construction.

? features the latest information for transit riders including route, schedule and bus stop changes.

Impacts on Drivers, Pedestrians and Transit Riders:

? Necessary changes have been made to the traffic, bus and pedestrian patterns around Public Square, with a goal to limit the impact on those who live and travel Downtown. These changes will begin as early as February 23 and remain in effect through the duration of the project.

? During the renovation of Public Square, Ontario Street and Superior Avenue within the square will be closed to all traffic. The surrounding Public Square Roadways and Rockwell Avenue will be accessible to RTA and local vehicular traffic only. (See map for details.)

? Parking garages and buildings on the perimeter of Public Square will be open and accessible to residents and Downtown employees.

? Bus stops, shelters and bus layover areas have been reorganized to accommodate the closure of Public Square. All bus routes and transfers remain within one block of Public Square, and the HealthLine stop across from Tower City is open. Visit for more information.

? Exterior sidewalks along the perimeter of Public Square will be open for pedestrians.

The transformation of Public Square, as well as other improvement projects happening across Downtown Cleveland, is slated for completion in summer 2016. Public Square will be a welcoming space for Downtown visitors, residents and employees throughout the year, incorporating easily accessible public transit with inviting green areas, pathways, and a wide-variety of activities.
