God wants us to be Consistent and Faithful to Him (Part 1 Perseverance)

March 2, 2008

Opening scripture: Hebrews 3:12-15

“The only reason men fail is broken focus”

What are your daily habits? You must be consistent in:

• Reading your bible every day

• Applying the bible to your life

• Praying every day

• Attending church regularly

• Paying your tithes regularly

• Sharing the Gospel with people

• Living as a Christian

• Don’t let Satan distract you away from your relationship with God;

1 Peter 5:8-9 (NLT)

8 Be careful! Watch out for attacks from the Devil, your great enemy. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for some victim to devour.

9 Take a firm stand against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your Christian brothers and sisters all over the world are going through the same kind of suffering you are.

1 Corinthians 16:13-14 (NLT)

13 Be on guard. Stand true to what you believe. Be courageous. Be strong.

14 And everything you do must be done with love.

• Don’t drift away from the truth. Stand firm!

Colossians 1:23 (NLT)

23 But you must continue to believe this truth and stand in it firmly. Don't drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News. The Good News has been preached all over the world, and I, Paul, have been appointed by God to proclaim it.

2 Thessalonians 2:15 (NLT)

15 With all these things in mind, dear brothers and sisters, stand firm and keep a strong grip on everything we taught you both in person and by letter.

• You MUST be a finisher! In order to be saved you must continue in your relationship with God all your life!

Hebrews 6:11-12 (NKJV)

11 And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end,

12 that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Matthew 10:22 (NLT)

22 And everyone will hate you because of your allegiance to me. But those who endure to the end will be saved.

Acts 20:24 (NIV)

24 However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me--the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace.

• WE NEED each other in this church!

Acts 2:42 (NLT)

42 They joined with the other believers and devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, sharing in the Lord's Supper and in prayer.

• We must be faithful and consistent in the ministries God has given each of us in this church, or the whole church hurts.

Romans 12:4-5 (NLT)

4 Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function,

5 so it is with Christ's body. We are all parts of his one body, and each of us has different work to do. And since we are all one body in Christ, we belong to each other, and each of us needs all the others.

• Don’t withdraw away from God when things in your life get tough;

James 1:3 (NLT)

3 For when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.

2 Timothy 4:5 (NLT)

5 But you should keep a clear mind in every situation. Don't be afraid of suffering for the Lord. Work at bringing others to Christ. Complete the ministry God has given you.

1 Timothy 6:11-12 (NLT)

11 But you, Timothy, belong to God; so run from all these evil things, and follow what is right and good. Pursue a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.

12 Fight the good fight for what we believe. Hold tightly to the eternal life that God has given you, which you have confessed so well before many witnesses.
