This environment has many unique features. There are many beautiful plants and many interesting creatures. The climate here is mild and nice year round. It is a great place to come and get out into the wilderness and free your mind from the urban world.

Plants & Animals

There are many different types of plants that live in Olympic National Park. The most common are the Douglasia. They grow in bundles and are a very bright pink color. There are 1,450 types of beautiful vascular plants. Offshore, there are a vast amount of whales, dolphins, sea lions, seals, and sea otters. On land, you will see raccoons, beaver & mink, owls, deer, elk, cougars, and bears.

Population & Problems

Before Olympic National Park was actually a park, Native Americans lived there. This included the Pigmies, Huli, and Yanomami.

Today there are problems with farming, plantations, dams, and mining. There are ways to enforce the protection of nature, like regulating and enforcing land-use laws and adopting policies that employ cleared land.
