Perry Fewell is in his 22nd season as an NFL coach and first with Carolina in 2019. Fewell was hired as secondary coach in 2019 and was name interim head coach on Dec. 3, 2019.

Fewell has 34 years of coaching experience, including 21 in the NFL, and spent the past two seasons as secondary coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2017-18). Under Fewell, the Jaguars allowed just 182.2 passing yards per game which led the NFL. Jacksonville recorded 32 interceptions in 2017-18, tied for fifth in the NFL, while holding opposing quarterbacks to a 76.4 passer rating, best in the NFL. In 2017, Fewell helped both starting cornerbacks for Jacksonville, A.J. Bouye and Jalen Ramsey, earn All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors.

Prior to his tenure in Jacksonville, Fewell spent time as the defensive backs coach for the Washington Redskins (2015-16) and five seasons as the defensive coordinator of the New York Giants, a stint that included a 21-17 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI. In Fewell's five seasons in New York from 2010-14, his unit amassed 160 takeaways, the second-most in the NFC and third-most in the NFL. During the team's Super Bowl campaign in 2011, the Giants were fourth in the NFL in both takeaways (35) and turnover differential (plus-14).

From 2006-09, Fewell spent four seasons as Buffalo's defensive coordinator. He was the team's interim head coach for the final seven games of the 2009 season when he led to team to finish with a 3-4 record. In 2009, his guidance helped rookie safety Jairus Byrd tie for the NFL lead with nine picks and earn Pro Bowl honors.

Fewell coached defensive backs for Chicago in 2005 when the Bears led the NFC with 24 interceptions and featured two Pro Bowl players in cornerback Nathan Vasher and safety Mike Brown. Fewell had previously served as secondary coach of the St. Louis Rams from 2003-04.

Fewell entered the NFL as the defensive backs coach for the Jaguars in 1998, a position he held through the 2002 season.

Prior to entering the NFL, Fewell spent 13 years coaching at the collegiate level. Fewell spent three seasons at Vanderbilt where he coached the secondary from 1995-97, adding assistant head coach duties in 1997. In 1992, he returned to Army as defensive line coach for a second stint. For four seasons at Kent State from 1988-91, Fewell spent his only time in his career coaching on the offensive side of the ball as he served as the wide receivers coach. Prior to Kent State, Fewell served as the defensive backs coach at the U.S. Military Academy in 1987. He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at the University of North Carolina from 1985-86.

Fewell lettered as a defensive back at Lenoir-Rhyne (N.C.) from 1980-83 and was part of the university's 2011 Hall of Fame class. He lettered on the football and track teams at South Point High School in Belmont, N.C., and was inducted into the Belmont Sports Hall of Fame in 2001. He also earned induction into the Gaston County (N.C.) Hall of Fame in June 2012. Fewell and his wife, Kathleen, have two sons.

Named head coach on January 11, 2010, Pete Carroll became the eighth head coach in Seahawks history after one of the most successful runs in USC history in the college ranks.

In 2016, he became the 39th head coach in NFL history with 100 wins in the regular season.

Seattle has advanced to the divisional round in six of Carroll's nine seasons as coach, winning two NFC Championships and one Super Bowl, while claiming the No. 1 seed in the NFC twice, and third time in franchise history (2005 under Mike Holmgren, 2013-14).

Carroll returned to the NFL after spending nine years (2001-09) as head coach at USC, where he won seven consecutive Pac-10 titles (2002-08), two national championships (2003-04) and led the Trojans to a 97-19 record.

He began his NFL career as defensive backs coach for Buffalo (1984) and Minnesota (1985-89) before becoming the N.Y. Jets defensive coordinator (1990-93) and head coach (1994). He spent two years as San Francisco's defensive coordinator (1995-96), leading the league in total defense in 1995, before leading New England to a 27-21 record and two playoff appearances as head coach (1997-99).

Carroll was a two-time (1971-72) All-Pacific Coast Conference free safety at Pacific and earned his bachelor's degree in 1973 in business administration. He received his secondary teaching credential and a master's degree in physical education from Pacific in 1976. He was inducted into the Pacific Athletic Hall of Fame in 1995.
