Executive BOARD NEWS

Introducing the Executive Committee of the Church Board:

The ECC Church Board meets 4 times a year. The routine decisions of the church board during the remaining months have been delegated to a ten person executive committee. In addition to decision making, the CB Executive Committee also coordinates church wide events and ministries involving two or more congregations.

Major Issues addressed at the January ExC Meeting:

The new ECC "Church Policy for Membership Attendance of Christian Conferences" was approved. If you are interested in attending a Christian conference, you may find a copy of this policy and an application form posted on the church website under "Resource."

The Executive Committee approved the formation of two new task forces, one to re-examine the church governance and ministry structure and another to lead the efforts of the EKC campus expansion projects.

Grace Community Church of Bellevue may be using the EKC Facility temporarily on Sundays in February and March. They have lost their place to worship and have been looking for a temporary facility to meet until they can move into another facility. The Executive Committee approved the Elder Board and EKC council recommendations to lend a helping hand.

Improving Communication: Church Board is making communication improvement throughout our church a priority this year. Look for your small group and church leaders to routinely communicate with you.

Upcoming Events:

Missions Conference: Feb. 23-24 for EKC and Mar.12 for Seattle.

Easter Carnival (sponsored by Children's Ministry): March 15th at Shoreline Community Center

Blood Drive: March 15th at the Easter Carnival.

Photo-shoot: Photo-shoot will take place starting Feb. or March for the 2008 ECC Photo-directory.

My Dear Friends:

Thank you all for blanketing me with your prayers and love! Your caring has deeply touched my family. We can't really use any words or language to express our appreciation. I have had two surgeries and will have 36 radiation treatments through January 2008. During the daily treatment, I am the happiest and laughing-est person in the treatment center even though I am facing one of the most challenging stages in my life. It's your prayers and love that helped deliver me through the storm without any fear. It's a blessing to know that I have been loved by so many people.

I have been thinking deeply through all these days of resting. What did I do wrong to cause cancer to form? I came to realize that this is the only method that my Heavenly Father used to force me to stop and re-examine my life and my faith. Before my operation, I was worried that at work or at home Kenny couldn't handle so many tasks by himself. And my kids would have a difficult time. Even the Sunday school class that I had been teaching for 11 years might face a challenging time, too. But everything seems to be going pretty smoothly without me. Kenny and the kids, and even the new Pre-K kids at Sunday school are doing well. I see God's hand has touched everything that I was worried about. The blessings are abundant. Now I know that the world can live without me, but I can't live without my God. I see myself as a chosen child of God. Not everyone can see God's hand work so closely day by day. I am not afraid or defeated by this disease. Because of your prayers and support, I will be stronger and tougher than ever before.

May God Bless You for every thing you had done for me!

CSL REPORT

leyball and tennis.

CSL is an acronym that might be as familiar to some of you as NIV or NASB, but to others, it is just another jumble of letters. In fact, CSL is one of the great sports ministries that our church has been participating in since for the last 6 years. CSL stands for Christian Sports League and is spearheaded by the Chang Family Foundation, the organization set up by former French Open champion, Michael Chang. CSL was created to foster fellowship and build bridges between believers and seekers. In addition to basketball, the league also offers co-ed vol-

This past season, ECC contributed two teams to the twelve team basketball league. Teams are based with churches and led by solid Christians. Our first team, Seraphim, was a veteran team made up of a core of players, ranging from ages 23 to mid-40's, many of whom had participated in the basketball mission trip to Taiwan during the summer of `06.

In stark contrast, the Arkoons were made of up young men ages 16-20, including several that had never played organized basketball; none over 6 feet tall. This team was conceived as a developmental squad to bring up the next generation of players to carry on sports missions. Both teams endeavored to build relationships and encourage one another as well as to continue promoting the Gospel to non-believing teammates. . Highlights: Seraphim won the league championship with a record of 9 wins and 0 losses. Arkoons were competitive and finished third in the league despite often having to play teams with much greater physical talent. Imagine, Andrew Fung, a 5'10", 150 lb college freshman trying to guard a 6'5", 265 lb former college football player. Players on both teams sacrificed sleep on Saturday mornings to wake up for 9:00 am practices Edison Cheng and various players led weekly devotionals during practice Teams fellowshipped at Toy's Caf? and Bob Do's house. Thanks to the many great fans that came to cheer us on!

CSL was an important training ground for the sports mission team we sent out and will be important for those we would like to send in the future. Those who have participated gained a lot of experience on how to use sports as a vehicle to minister to others. If basketball sounds like an interesting way to participate in ministry or to reach out to friends, consider joining us as a player, team captain, scorekeeper, referee, or fan during this spring's EBA season (Evangelical Chinese Church Basketball Association). Be on the lookout for information in the Sunday bulletins!!
