DIRECTIONS TO SKAGIT TOURS:
For visitors taking a Skagit Power Tour or Newhalem Walking Tour, please travel to the Skagit Information Center in Newhalem, WA. For visitors taking a Diablo Lake Boat Tour, please travel to the Environmental Learning Center.
FROM THE SOUTH:
Via State Route 20
Travel northbound I-5, take exit 232 (Cook Rd). Travel east on Cook Rd for approximately 5 miles. At the intersection of Cook Rd and State Route 20 (a.k.a. North Cascades Highway), turn left onto State Route 20.
The Skagit Information Center will be located on your right, as you enter Newhalem. To proceed to the Environmental Learning Center, stay on State Route 20 when you see the sign for Diablo; the Learning Center is not located in town. At mile mark 127.5, turn left onto Diablo Dam Road and follow it over the dam. Please drive carefully, as this road is narrow and winding down to and across the dam. Immediately past the dam, take a right and proceed approximately 1/2 mile. The Learning Center parking lot will be clearly marked on your right. You are welcome to drive up to the office in order to check in and unload prior to parking your vehicle in the Learning Center parking lot.
Via State Highway 530
Travel northbound I-5, take exit 208 (State Hwy 530 toward Arlington/Darrington). Proceed East on State Highway 530 and follow for approximately 50 miles. At the intersection of State Hwy 530 and State Route 20 (a.k.a. North Cascades Highway), turn right onto SR 20. The Skagit Information Center will be located on your right, as you enter Newhalem. To proceed to the Environmental Learning Center, stay on State Route 20 when you see the sign for Diablo; the Learning Center is not located in town. At mile mark 127.5, turn left onto Diablo Dam Road and follow it over the dam. Please drive carefully, as this road is narrow and winding down to and across the dam. FROM THE NORTH: From southbound I-5, take exit 232 (Cook Rd). Travel east on Cook Rd for approximately 5 miles. At the intersection of Cook Rd and State Route 20 (a.k.a. North Cascades Highway), turn left onto State Route 20.

The Skagit Information Center will be located on your right, as you enter Newhalem. To proceed to the Environmental Learning Center, follow the directions described above. FROM THE EAST: Take State Route 20 west through Twisp, Winthrop, Mazama and over Washington and Rainy passes toward Newhalem. As you pass Diablo Lake in North Cascades National Park, look for a right turn on Diablo Dam Road (approx. mile mark 127.5). From here, follow the directions described above. Drive time from Mazama is approximately 1 hour.
