What is an Active Shooter or

Workplace Violence Event?

Homeland Security defines an Active Shooter as "an individual

actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a con?ned

and populated area; in most cases, active shooters use firearms(s)

and there is no pattern or method to their selection of victims."

Workplace violence, (defined by OSHA) ¡°is any act or threat of

physical violence, harassment, intimidation, or other threatening

disruptive behavior that occurs at the work site. It ranges from

threats and verbal abuse to physical assaults and even homicide.¡±
