This Study Guide has been created to help candidates prepare for the Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) exam. The guide will focus on the knowledge domains on which the CADC exam is based. The exam contains 100 multiple choice questions and has a time limit of 2 hours. The questions cover basic knowledge areas that correspond to the functions that counselors perform throughout the course of a treatment episode. This Study Guide is written to provide general overview information that the addiction counselor should know to work in residential programs, outpatient services, inpatient settings or other community based programs. This Study Guide also includes some general tips for preparing for a test and for taking multiple choice examinations. Additional resources may be beneficial for test preparation.
