PROCESS FOR THE SELECTION OF A MAJOR PROJECT

The major projects committee will:

1. Review criteria and process for selecting a major project.

2. Establish a proposed timeline for accomplishing committee objectives including reserving club program dates for presentation of proposal(s) to the membership.

3. Keep the board and membership of the Cadillac Rotary Club informed of the status of selecting the next major project at each step of the process.

4. Communicate to the Rotary Club members and to the community at large the opportunity to submit proposals for consideration based on established criteria.

5. Screen all proposals using established criteria and process.

6. Select up to four proposals. Submit the proposals to the board of directors for approval to present to the general membership.

7. Present the selected proposals to the membership for final selection by secret ballot. Absentee ballots will be made available for members unable to attend the publicized meeting. Club membership will continue to vote until a proposal receives two-thirds support from the voting membership. If a consensus cannot be reached, the matter will be referred to the board for further review.

CRITERIA FOR MAJOR PROJECT SELECTION

In considering proposals eligible for submission to the board of directors and then to the membership, the major projects committee will recommend up to four proposals which further the goals of the Rotary Club of Cadillac including service to the community and encouragement of broad-based membership involvement and support.

Proposed major projects should be designed to meet the following criteria:

1. Help unite the Rotary members to work for a common goal.

2. Help make our community a better place to live.

3. Benefit a large cross section of the residents of our community.

4. Be a lasting contribution to future generations of our community.

5. Be a visible tribute to the Cadillac Rotary’s spirit of community.

6. Be funded in whole or part by the Cadillac Rotary Club and possible provide an opportunity for club members to individually lend their expertise to carrying out the project.

7. Be maintained or operated by responsible partner outside the Rotary Club.
