Theisen Date: April 2020POSITION SUMMARYThe DevOps Engineer is responsible for maintaining, updating, testing, and deploying network and web server systems software. Day-to-day direction and assignments from the DevOps Architect to deploy new servers as well as maintain a HIPPA and PCI-compliant level of security across said systems. Alongside other technical staff, the incumbent must also support current systems and software by responding to support tickets from internal clients.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIESProvides application analysis, maintenance, and upgradesSupport DevOps Architect in setting up and establishing processes for development or testing environments.Support DevOps Architect in deployment of PCI and HIPAA related implementation solutions.Manage and schedule major systems upgrades/updates and monitor integration issues. Write custom scripts for software testing and maintenance automation.Build and setup monitoring alerts for servers & services.Perform proactive security monitoring for patches/updates, disk storage management, OS maintenance, and application maintenance.Document all implementations, standards and changes to procedures.Engages with third party support vendors/or internal departments for security/networking/storage/database access & support. All duties and requirements must be performed consistent with the UW Health Performance Standards.POSITION REQUIREMENTSEducationMinimumBachelor’s Degree in Information Systems or Computer Science. Four (4) years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.PreferredMasters Degree in Information Systems or Computer ScienceWork ExperienceMinimum Three (3) years working within DevOps support/administration. Advance knowledge of:Server administration (Windows or Linux)Fluency in at least one scripting language (example: Python)Practical experience with automation/configuration management tools Proficiency working in headless Linux environmentsPreferredExperience with network and application layer protocols (TCP, HTTP, HTTPS) and certificate infrastructure.Experience working with Continuous Integration/ Continuous Deployment technologies, including Git.Experience with Apache (httpd & Tomcat) Selenium Grid architecture & driver management, mysql/mariadb’s & java & php applications.Experience with RedHat Enterprise LinuxExperience with SaltStackLicenses & CertificationsMinimum PreferredRequired Skills, Knowledge, and AbilitiesExpert level user of web based applications, web sites and the internetUnderstanding of the Windows operating system as it pertains to networking and software maintenance/updatesAbility to provide remote and verbal computer and application support to end-usersAbility to write well-formed documentation for technical staff Attention to detail with a high level of thoroughnessAbility to stay informed on current security trends and possible issues related to our infrastructureAbility to be consistent and repeatable in approach to software updates/maintenanceFamiliar with the general concepts and purpose of code versioning systemsAbility to troubleshoot and identify server and software bugsAbility to learn new technologies quicklyAbility to act independentlyAbility to take initiativeAbility to take initiative.
