PROCEEDURES & EXPECTATIONS: The classroom is a place of learning and should be treated as such. Please leave your socializing outside the door, and come in prepared to work.

• Bring all materials with you daily.

• Use proper and polite language that is not profane or discourteous.

• Be attentive always, remain on task, and follow all directions.

• Do not bring any gum, food, or drink (water is allowed in a closeable container).

• Stay in your seat at all times, leaving your seat only after raising your hand.

Electronic devices – absolutely no texting, phone calls, or gaming while in class. Students may listen to their music only when instructed, but must be placed on shuffle and put away. Items used improperly in class will be confiscated and returned only to parents after school.

Cheating & Plagiarizing is a serious offense and there is absolutely no tolerance for either. This includes copying homework, class assignments, or tests. All parties involved will receive a “0” on that assignment and class suspension.

Not following the above procedures will result in lowered citizenship grade and participation points, phone calls to parents, detention, and/or referral to the principal’s office.

CLASSWORK & HOMEWORK: Homework is assigned everyday and is due the next day. Only two homework assignments may be turned in with a “late pass” per semester, all others will receive a “0” grade. Each student is given a home text book for homework and studying; it should be kept clean and in good shape. The replacement cost for the text is $65.

TARDIES/ABSENCES/PASSES: Being tardy disrupts class learning and causes you to miss important instructions and class work time. Students are expected to be in their seats when the bell rings, working on the given assignment.

1st and 2nd tardies – warning

3rd and 4th tardies – 20 minute detention / phone call home

5th + tardy – 60 minute detention / phone call home

Any detention not served after school within two days will receive a class suspension.

If you are absent it is your responsibility to get missed assignments and to make up missed work. Previous assignments are on the whiteboard at the back of the room. Each student has one day per day missed to turn in missed assignments. Make-up tests must be taken during advisory within one week of absence, and failure to do so will result in a “0” grade. If you know you are going to be absent, i.e. vacation, appointments, athletics, you must pre-arrange a time to take a quiz or test. Make ups will not be allowed if I am not notified beforehand.

Going to the restroom should be done during passing periods and breaks. Only 2 passes will be given per semester. You must have and fill out your school binder pass in order to leave the room.

TUTORING/CONTACTS:

I am available every morning at 7:30 am and after school by appointment, and during advisory. If I cannot be reached, other teachers are also available for assistance. Students who need extra assistance can also receive tutoring from the student union after school. If you are having difficulty with your assignments, please come in for extra help right away! Don’t let things snowball and come in the day before the test. If you have a question, odds are, most other students have that same question.
