Position: Nutrition Coordinator

Reports directly to: Executive Director

Job Summary: Responsible for daily management of the Nutrition program. Supervise dietary staff for preparation of the daily meal. Utilize technology to perform administrative functions such as scheduling, purchasing, inventory, billing and record keeping. Use administrative policies and procedures and personnel rules and guidelines to supervise staff. (30-40 hours a week)

Qualifications: Ideal candidate should have experience in an institutional food service operation with responsibility for maintaining required production levels, and providing knowledge of the materials and equipment used in a dining/food service facility. Must have proficient computer skills with experience in Word, Excel, and Outlook. Must possess valid driver’s license and provide proof of auto insurance. Must be able to work well with staff, volunteers, members and DOC inmates.

If no food service background, willing to train the right candidate.

Type of work performed included, but not limited to the following:

• Manage and oversee Kitchen Staff and Meals on Wheels Coordinator.(5 staff members)

• Keep accurate records of daily attendance, meal counts, contributions and daily deposits.

• Promote, market and grow the Meal Program, including Meals on Wheels.

• Implement menus to meet the State and Federal requirements.

• Complete NAPIS assessments on all clients.

• Plan and promote activities to encourage participation in the Nutrition program.

• Direct staff to follow State health, safety, and sanitation regulations and procedures.

• Assure that food service policies and procedures are applied to food preparation.

• Prepare monthly nutrition education column for newsletter.

• Provide information to supervisor concerning staff performance appraisals.

• Resolve personnel problems and complaints within the dietary department keeping records in line

with the personnel policy and procedure manual.

• Recruit volunteer workers and line up replacement staff as needed.

• Manage all aspects of purchasing, while forwarding invoices to supervisor.

• Check incoming weekly orders for proper delivery, date and stock, as well as complete monthly inventory.

• Work within budgetary restraints, implementing cost saving measures.

• Respond to telephone and member requests as needed.

• Occasionally transport inmates back and forth to unit.

Salary range: $10-$14 / Some benefits(holiday, sick, birthday pay) no health insurance but a health stipend
