Abstract:

General objective:

European Telemedicine Association Project is the leading resource and advocate promoting access to medical care for consumers and health professionals via telecommunications technology.

Focus in Continuing Health Senior Care: promoting quality of healthcare at home, supporting the families of senior citizens, and all chronicle and recovering patients.

Promoting Ethics of Eldercare and citizenship, active aging, social transformations and public politic reforms, and a new style of live for senior citizens.

And also focusing in promotion School e-learning health education and children's health

Strategic relevance and contribution to the Public health program:

Improve citizens' health security (Health Threats) and Promote Health (Health Determinants): Increasing healthy life years and promoting healthy ageing. Action on health determinants - such as nutrition, alcohol, tobacco and drug consumption, as well as social and environmental determinants

EUTAP seeks to bring together diverse groups from traditional medicine, academic medical centers, technology and telecommunications companies, e-health, medical societies, government and others to overcome barriers to the advancement of telemedicine through the professional, ethical and equitable improvement in health care delivery. And, at same time, provides continuing hearth education for school teachers and education seminars for targeted student groups

Health information and knowledge:

Telemedicine is most beneficial for populations living in isolated communities and remote regions and is currently being applied in virtually all medical domains, reducing inequalities in healthcare and innovating access to healthcare.

And make a contribution for developing EU and Member States' capacity to respond to health threats, for example with health emergency planning and preparedness measures using technical support of telemedicine networks;

Methods and means:

A. Survey with the various countries and their best practices. Selection and analysis of innovative actions and experiences. Series of methods which can be adapted to various regions

Consultations using telecommunications to provide medical data, which may include audio, still or live images, between a patient and a health professional for use in rendering a diagnosis and treatment plan. This might originate from a remote clinic to a physician's office using a direct transmission link or may include communicating over the Web.

Remote patient monitoring uses devices to remotely collect and send data to a monitoring station for interpretation. Such "home telehealth" applications might include a specific vital sign, such as blood glucose or heart ECG or a variety of indicators for homebound patients. Such services can be used to supplement the use of visiting nurses.

Medical education provides continuing medical education credits for health professionals and special medical education seminars for targeted groups in remote locations.

Consumer medical and health information includes the use of the Internet for consumers to obtain specialized health information and on-line discussion groups to provide peer-to-peer support.

B. Monitoring, evaluation and dissemination of results actions

EUTAP Meeting – a largest scientific meeting and exposition focusing exclusively on telemedicine, with presentations, posters and workshops.

EUTAP School e-learning education provides continuing hearth education credits for school teachers and education seminars for targeted student groups

EUTAP cultural, nature and health Tourism a largest scientific meeting and exposition focusing senior tourism, with presentations, posters and workshops

EUTAP Industry Council Strategic Business Series - a focused event developed for EUTAP Corporate Members to examine telemedicine market opportunities and issues.

EUTAP Website - a widely-used resource for telemedicine news and information. Telemedicine and e-Health Journal - a quarterly, peer-reviewed publication encompassing all aspects of clinical telemedicine practice; technical advances and enabling technologies; continuing medical education; and the impact of telemedicine on the quality, cost-effectiveness, and access to health care. Online Membership Directory - the single source of who's who in telemedicine. On-line Member News Updates - direct, exclusive news briefs via email about the latest event and activities affecting telemedicine professionals

Special Interest Groups (SIG's) & Chapters- allow members to address issues related to the advancement and application of telemedicine regarding specific areas including home telehealth, ocular telehealth, technology, teledermatology, telemental health, telenursing, telepathology, and telerehabilitation.

Expected outcomes:

Educating government about telemedicine as an essential component in the delivery of modern medical care.

Serving as a clearinghouse for telemedical information and services.

Fostering networking and collaboration among interests in medicine and technology.

Promoting research and education including the sponsorship of scientific educational meetings

Promoting Telemedicine and Life Science Resources Center’s

Spearheading the development of appropriate clinical and industry policies and standards.
