|SUPERVISOR: |Chief Operations Officer/Senior Vice President for Maintenance and Operations |

|LOCATION: |1759 N. Earl Rudder Freeway, Bryan |

|JOB BRIEF: |The position of Director of Operations is to manage the daily operation of all routes in an assigned area. This includes|

| |the supervision of the operations of all revenue vehicles. |

|Supervise all system operations staff in an assigned area. |

|Must have capacity to work cooperatively with a wide range of fellow employees in a congenial manner. |

|Administer and consistently enforce the policies and procedures of BTD. |

|Ensure all fixed routes and D&R routes have the necessary equipment and personnel required to operate safely and efficiently. |

|Drive transit routes in absence of sufficient personnel. |

|Gather all necessary information and submit to proper personnel. This includes but is not limited to: accident reports, workers compensation, FMLA, |

|new employee, terminations and changes. |

|Maintain professional customer/employee/supervisor relations. |

|Serve as liaison between subordinate personnel and upper management. |

|Assist Senior Vice President in strategic, operational, and administrative planning. |

|Cooperate with the executive personnel in accomplishing agency goals and objectives. |

|Research customer complaints and follow up with the Customer Care Representative when required. |

|Review and make final approval or denial decision for requested employee leave. |

|Hire and discipline employees according to BTD policies and procedures. |

|Perform employee evaluations. |

|Perform employee interviews. |

|Review operator time keeping. Discuss with operator and explain any modification. |

|Maintain the standards of BTD, including but not limited to the Drug & Alcohol, ADA, EEO, Title VI, Code of Conduct and safety policies and |

|procedures. Maintain confidentially of information. |

|Ability to operate in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. |

|All other duties as assigned. |

|EDUCATION REQUIRED |

|An education equivalent with a high school diploma. |

|Updates on applicable laws and procedures. |

|Must possess or be capable of obtaining a Class B CDL with passenger endorsement within 60 days of employment and maintain such through employment. |

|Must be familiar with State and local traffic laws, ordinances and regulations involved in the operation of vehicles. |

|PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE |

|Experience will be evaluated during interview. |

|SUPERVISION RECEIVED |

|Supervision is minimal. Must be able to direct their own work and work with a minimum of direct supervision. |

|RESPONSIBILITIES |

|Maintain the standards of BTD, including but not limited to the Drug & Alcohol, ADA, EEO, Title VI and safety policies and procedures. |

|The successful employee must be able to instruct employees, assign new work, review work of self and others and act on employee problems. |

|Instructing and coordinating activities. |

|Employee must be able allocate personnel, coordinate activities and plan work of others. |

|Perform all duties as required in the essential functions. |

|All other duties as assigned. |

|APTITUDES REQUIRED This position requires the following levels of aptitudes: |

|Reasoning Development - must be able to apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete |

|variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagrammatic or |

|schedule form. |

|Language - must be at a level that would normally read a variety of novels or technical magazines with excellent comprehension. Must be at a level |

|that would normally read at a rate of 120 - 215 words per minute. Must be able to write compound and complex sentences employing adjectives. Must |

|be able to speak clearly and distinctly with appropriate pauses and emphasis. Must be able to write reports and essays with proper format, |

|punctuation, spelling and grammar. |

| |

|Math Development - must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide. |

|PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS |

|Have constant need (66% - 100% of time) for sitting, finger dexterity, typing or writing. |

|Have frequent need (33% - 66% of time) standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching above the shoulders, grasping, gripping, or for |

|driving or operating equipment. |

|Have rare need (less than 1% of time) for climbing stairs, lying down, pushing, pulling or climbing ladders. |

|LIFTING/CARRYING |

|Have frequent need (33% - 66% of time) to lift/carry under 10 pounds. |

|Have occasional need (1% - 33% of time) to lift/carry 10-25 pounds. |

|Have rare need (less than 1% of time) to lift/carry 26-150 pounds. |

|VISION REQUIREMENTS |

|Have constant need (66% - 100% of time) to be able to see detail, and to see beyond arms length. |

|HEARING REQUIREMENTS |

|Have constant need (66% - 100% of time) to be able to hear other personnel to communicate effectively. |

|SPEAKING REQUIREMENTS |

|Have constant need (66% - 100% of time) to be able to speak to other personnel to communicate effectively. |

|ENVIRONMENT- WORKING CONDITIONS |

|Have constant need (66% - 100% of time) to work indoors, for eye/hand/foot coordination. |

|Have occasional need (1% - 33% of time) to work in confined space. |

|Have rare need (less than 1% of time) to work outdoors, for exposure to fumes, chemicals, solvents, etc., as well as exposure to extreme |

|temperatures. |

|OPTIMUM QUALIFICATIONS |

|The successful candidate should have at a minimum good English communication and must also meet the aptitude requirements listed in this description.|

|Exceptional organizational skills are needed. Ability to work cooperatively with a wide range of people. |
