New York Congregational Nursing CenterVISITATION PLAN AND GUIDELINESOn March 13, 2020 the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) issued guidance to Nursing Homes limiting visitation due to the COVID-19 Virus Pandemic. On July 10, 2020 NYSDOH updated the guidance to allow outdoor visitation and limited indoor visitation and activities, if the Nursing Home meets specific benchmarks and develops a reopening plan. On September 15, 2020, NYSDOH has provided updated guidelines which are effective September 17, 2020. New York Congregational Nursing Center is located in a region that is now in Phase 4.In order to promote visitation between families, and loved ones, and prevent isolation, we have put procedures in place that are in accordance with the New York State Department of Health and CDC guidelines. VISITATION PROCEDURESCurrently, New York Congregational Nursing Center (NYCNC) is planning to open visits limited to outdoors, and indoors during inclement weather only. Visitors and residents must comply with social distancing (6 feet apart), wear face masks at all times, and perform hand hygiene before entering the premises, and upon exiting. Visitors must be screened, including temperature checks, and complete a screening form prior to visitation. Additionally the visitor must present a verified negative COVID-19 test results within the last 7 days. Visitation will be refused if the individual(s) fails to present a negative COVID-19 test result.Visits will be held Monday through Friday from 10am to 5pm by appointment only. Residents are permitted two visitors at a time.Visitors under the age of 18y/o are prohibited from visiting residents at this time. If the resident does not attend the visit, you may reschedule the visit. Visits are time limited (up to 45 minutes per visit). No food is permitted during the visit. Adequate staff will be present to assist with the bringing of patients to visitors, monitoring of visitation, and cleaning and disinfecting areas used for visitation after each visit using an EPA-approved disinfectant. The nursing home has signage regarding facemask use, hand hygiene, and uses floor markings to cue social distancing delineations. Close contact is not permitted. We provide alcohol based hand rub to staff, residents, visitors who enter the premises, and to those who will visit outdoors. Residents with COVID-19 signs or symptoms, and residents in a 14 day quarantine or observation period are not eligible for visits. New York Congregational Nursing Center will not permit any in room visitation unless the resident is receiving end of life care/ compassionate care. New York Congregational Nursing Center encourages and supports communication between residents and family and friends and provides this via facetime, WhatsApp, Skype and assisting with phone calls and letter writing as requested.An interdisciplinary team has been developed which includes Administration, Nursing, Social Work, Recreation, Housekeeping, and Maintenance to review the visitation compliance with the advisory dated July 10, 2020: Skilled Nursing Facility Visitation. A copy of this formal visitation plan will be posted to the website and families will also be notified of the visitation plan by email and letter. If any visitor fails to follow the protocol, he/she/they will be prohibited from visiting for the duration of the COVID-19 State Declared Public Health Emergency. In the event of any cases of COVID-19 in New York Congregational Nursing Center, visitation will be suspended for at least 14 days, and the New York State Department of Health will be notified. The NYS Department of Health reserves the right to restrict visitation at any point. Thank you for partnering with us during this challenging time.
