SUBJECT: COMMON QUESTIONS USING NYVIP2 EQUIPMENT

IMPORTANT NOTICE

As emissions inspection stations throughout New York transition to the NYVIP2 equipment some common questions are being asked which can be easily remedied by the stations themselves. The fixes described in this message will save you the time and effort of having to call DMV or Systech.

Please watch for new NYVIP messages in the coming days which will contain further helpful tips and instructions.

1. I can't remember my password for the website.

? Your user id on the website is your DMV facility number. ? Your password is the password you set up when you purchased your equipment

on the site. ? If you have forgotten your password:

o click on "sign in" and then on "Forgotten Password?" o Enter your facility number and the email address you provided to Systech

and reset your password.

2. What are "Test Authorizations"?

? Testcom bills stations for transactions each month after inspections are completed. o A typical inspection on your Testcom analyzer costs 79.6 cents.

? In NYVIP2, you prepay for blocks of test authorizations and the fee is 43.6 cents. o They are sold in blocks of 20 ($8.72).

o You can order any amount from 1 block (20) to 25 blocks (500).

o One test authorization is used for each inspection completed.

o The number of authorizations you have remaining shows at the left side of the main screen on your analyzer.

3. How do I purchase them Test Authorizations? ?

You can purchase test authorizations two ways ? using your checking account (often called ACH) or using a credit card.

Using your checking account--

? If you are using your checking account, you can purchase authorizations on your analyzer and on the NYVIP website. To purchase authorizations on your analyzer you need to set up checking account information on the NYVIP website. o Go to . o Sign in using your user id and password. o Click on the "Pay Online" box on the right of the homepage. You can now set up your checking account information.

? After setting up your checking account information on the webpage, you can purchase authorizations on the webpage or right on your analyzer. To purchase authorizations on your analyzer follow this path: o ? main menu/station facility menu/inventory management menu/purchase test authorizations. You can purchase authorizations here.

? Extra optional feature ? after you set up your checking account information, you can set up your analyzer to automatically purchase more authorizations when you're down to a certain level.

? (Note: a coming upgrade will allow you to access the website right on your analyzer.)

Using your credit card--

? If you are using your credit card, you can purchase authorizations on the NYVIP website. o Go to . o Sign in using your user id and password. Your user id is your DMV facility number. Your password is the password you set up when you purchased your equipment on the site.

4. I have Test Authorizations but am getting a Test Authorization Lockout message.

? If the "Test Auth." box on the left side of your screen is colored green and shows that you still have authorizations but you still get a message indicating the unit is locked out due to a lack of test authorizations, please perform an inspection.

? We have confirmed that this type of lockout will not release upon performing a data refresh but will release once a station performs an inspection.

? (Note: this requirement will be eliminated by an upcoming software upgrade.)

5. How do I add or remove Certified Inspectors to my analyzer?

? Certified Inspectors are added and removed from your analyzer on the website. o Go to . Sign in using your facility number and your password. o Add or remove inspectors by following this path--Stations/Station Manager/Station Users. o This will lead you to the screen to add or remove inspectors. To add an inspector, load his/her DMV certified inspector license number. Be sure to select whether they should have manager privileges and click "Save". o Sign out from the NYVIP2 website.

o Now go to your analyzer and perform an incremental data refresh on your NYVIP2 unit. This will upload the new information to your analyzer.

From the Main Menu follow this path--2.Utiliities Menu/5. Communications/2. Incremental Data File Refresh. After the refresh is complete, your additions (or removals) will be in effect.

6. How do I print daily reports? ? An upcoming software update will improve this function. In the meantime, from the Main Menu, follow this path: o 2.Utilities Menu o 1.Documents & Information o 3.Daily Reports. o Double click on DAILY REPORT. o Enter a date range in the two date fields. o Click view report at the far right. o Press the PrtScn button on your keyboard. o If there is more than one page on the report continue this step while viewing the additional pages.

7. How do I update my unit to the newest software?

? This depends on whether you are communicating via broadband or dial-up. o If you are communicating via broadband, verify communications by selecting the utilities menu, then number 5 for Communications, and then 2 for incremental data file refresh. If this refresh works, you'll know your analyzer is communicating with Systech properly. Software updates will occur automatically if you are communicating..

o If you communicating via dial up, software updates occur overnight. At the end of each day, make sure your analyzer is turned on and that the phone line is connected. Your analyzer will communicate with Systech and check for updates. If an update occurred during the night, you will get a pop-up message to accept the update the following morning. Be sure to accept any updates.

8. How do I check the status of my equipment order?

? You can check the status of your order by going to your account on . o After signing in, follow this path--Stations/Equipment/View Equipment Orders. To the left of your order number is a small check box. Open that up to find "Shipping Status."
