Outreach Recycling Program CoordinatorOverall Responsibility The Outreach Recycling Program Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, implementation, monitoring and reporting of the multifamily and commercial recycling programs at UVDS. This Outreach position works closely with the Operations Department and with Customer Service. This is an hourly, non-exempt position. Supervision Received and ExercisedThis full-time position reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). This position has no supervisor responsibilities. Key Tasks and Responsibilities Education of all customers regarding:Mandatory State Commercial Recycling and Organics Laws and the services UVDS offers to help with compliance for our jurisdictions.Materials accepted and collection procedures for curbside and drop-off commodities at each of our facilities. Programs offered:Organics & Commercial CompostingCommercial Recycling for businesses, multifamily units, and schoolsTemporary Debris Box rentalHousehold Hazardous WasteC&D and LEEDConduct hands-on recycling assessments to:Determine flow of materials through the business.Evaluate current/new service needs.Distribute and customize outreach materials according to customer needs.Develop waste diversion plans in collaboration with Operations to ensure proper service levels and appropriate delivery of carts/bins.Coordinate with Customer Service Representatives to ensure appropriate delivery of carts/bins.Conduct waste audits and report on findings and recommendations in collaboration with the Operations Manager. Presentations to various groups on services offered by all companies, zero waste plans, etc.Participate in various trade organizations, community events, and committees assigned by the COO. Data Analysis and Reporting:Tracking of service delivery, outreach and education, for compliance with State and local recycling laws via Soft-pak system and in customized excel spreadsheets.Tracking of all outreach, education and compliance for franchise agreement reporting.Tracking and monitoring of contamination of all containers including assigning staff (CSRs and Outreach) to conduct customer follow-up calls and site visits.Diversion Auditing and ReportingMonitoring of Commercial customer accounts for data and service accuracy.Additional DutiesCustomer Service Representative cross trainingFielding customer callsSetting up new service accountsAccount troubleshootingWork order generationWalk-in paymentsCommunity Leadership ActivitiesOutreach Leadership TrainingNext Generation Management and Leadership ProgramCommunity InvolvementParticipate on Chamber BoardsServe on Community Committees that focus on waste prevention and education Skills and Attributes Good planning and organizational skills. Thoroughness and accuracy efficiencies.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Professional appearance and petent computer skills with all MS office programs.Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel (formulas, pivot tables) and PowerPoint.Education/Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Environmental Studies or another related field preferred. Experience may be substituted for higher education. 3 years’ experience in the waste collection industry and/or environmental education preferred; similar industry or program experience may be considered. Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Physical DemandsMobility within an office and a field environment for indefinite periods of time. Involves working in a waste and hazardous waste collection, disposal, and materials recovery and recycling environment.Involves sitting, standing, walking, reading, decision making, reaching above shoulder level, occasional lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, using both hands for simple and firm grasping, climbing stairs and fine finger manipulation, e.g., keyboard and mobile phone skills.Requires clarity of hearing.Requires the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, in person, in writing and by telephone and email.Requires use of mobile media devices such as cell phones and tablets with data plan reimbursement.Position Type and Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.?and occasional weekends or evenings.
