About Us:  I own a pretty little shop called "Just Plain Gorgeous" in Brisbane and I live in a shabby beach house on the water. I furnished my home with vintage and second hand items from thrift stores and Ebay. This is a journal of things that inspire me, DIY projects and my vintage finds. Enjoy.

About the Author:

Pam MacKenzie

Our real estate editor, Pam MacKenzie, expresses her creative side in this blog about knitting. Pam learned to knit at age 6, when her friend’s mother made Pam’s doll a dress, and Pam wanted to make more. Her mother wanted her to learn how to sew in high school, but she was afraid of the sewing machines, cutting fabric the wrong way, and the potential that sewing would have for bringing down her grade-point average. Every year, she managed to find a course conflict to avoid sewing classes. But the day after high school graduation, she took her graduation money to a fabric store, bought a kit to make a sweater, taught herself to read patterns and never looked back. These days, she knits a prayer shawl every month, along with sweaters, tote bags, gift bags and other goodies. She also designs many of her projects. Read More About Pam

About Me:  kecia

Creating is my key to another time. It unlocks the gate to my secret garden; my refuge. It takes me to another era where things were simpler and I find the process soothing to my soul. Lemoncholy’s Studio began with my fondness for vintage items. Searching flea markets, I find items long forgotten, sometimes damaged, but still purposeful. They just need some love and attention. I want these found objects to tell a new story, have meaning and to be inspiring. I have a vision for them to begin again. Intuitively I combine elements in an enchanting way to provoke a narrative response that alludes to something we seek without knowing it. Often, it is a reminder of our childhood. My jewelry is about craftsmanship and virtue but not perfection. By removing perfectionism, I free my imagination to play and ultimately, this freedom results in whimsical pieces of grace and beauty.

About Us:  Hi, there.  I’m Lisa Clarke. Welcome to my blog!

In this spot you’ll find all kinds of crafty chit-chat, mainly involving the work I do in polymer clay (which is available here in the shop) and the fun I’m having learning my way around a sewing machine and knitting needles.

I’m a voracious consumer of craft books, and I like to share my favorite reads here, along with the projects that have been inspired by them.

When I’m not making things, I like to talk about the little everyday adventures that pop up in and around the New Jersey home I share with three of my favorite geeks: my husband Neil, and our two boys.

My little Polka Dot empire also includes Polka Dot Creations, a polymer clay book store that has been open since 2001, and Polka Dot Radio, an internet radio station, which officially ended it’s two-year run on November 20th, 2008, but last I checked is still playing at the whim of Live365.

I hope you enjoy this little slice of life here at Polka Dot Cottage. Pour yourself a glass of lemonade (or a cup of tea, depending on your weather), pull up a chair, and make yourself at home!
