II. TEACHING ACTIVITIES

Brief statement of areas of teaching interest:

Teaching pediatrics remains a main priority of my daily work at KU. I am interested specifically in teaching students and residents the social and interpersonal skills of medicine. I am developing of a communication curriculum to be used during the pediatric clerkship. I am currently teaching high school students, medical students and residents. I am interested in teaching according to personality type. I believe that individuals learn at different rates and in different styles and it is the responsibility of the teacher to recognize these differences and adjust teaching to suit each student.

The extensive hours of clinical service and huge volume of patients solidified my vast clinical skills. While this clinical experience was critical for my current level of skill I transferred to my current position at the University of Kansas Medical Center to pursue my interests in research, medical education and leadership.
