A NATIONAL EDUCATION CONVENING FOCUSED ON IMPROVING LOCAL ACADEMIC RESULTS FOR CHILDREN THAT LIVE IN ASSISTED HOUSING

Urban Strategies, Inc. (USI) uses a results framework to build the internal capacity of its own organization and the external capacity of is education partners. The concepts, approaches and tools of Results CountTM is advancing USI's ability to achieve better and more equitable results for the children, families and neighborhoods it supports. To improve education results for children that live in assisted housing in urban communities across the country, USI facilitates a two day convening for its Choice Neighborhood School District partners and non-Choice School District Leaders to strengthen relationships, build knowledge, increase collaboration, advance equity and improve shared results.

Convening Results: Participants will:

Learn with staff from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Redevelopment (HUD) and the Department of Education (DOE) to better understand how the Choice Neighborhood Initiative resources can better support school districts in improving academic outcomes for children that live in assisted housing communities

Build capacity around the Results Count Framework sequencing to obtain more measurable results for children. Focus on addressing disparities, improving attendance and improving shared outcomes. Learn first-hand about educational efforts to improve results for students in South City Memphis through a tour of the

Foote Homes Redevelopment Plan's geographical footprint.

PROMISING PRACTICE- EVIDENCE2SUCCESS

Result: Evidence2Success provides a framework for engaging communities and public systems in improving child well-being. Participants will hear how Shelby County Schools leveraged its Choice Neighborhood Grant to carry out this framework to improve outcomes for students in the 38126 zip code area. Evidence2Success is funded by The Annie E. Casey Foundation and led by the Women's Foundation for a Greater Memphis.
