Covid-19 – Online Faith ResourcesDuring the Covid-19 pandemic Churches have been required to close. Those who are unwell or unable to leave home may be unable to receive visits, for example, from clergy or church visitors. A wide and varied range of virtual faith resources have developed over the past weeks in response to this gap. In recognition of the importance of faith for many older services users and their carers, this directory of online faith resources has been compiled to offer virtual access to a range of faith resources. This selection of resources are both local and from further afield. There has been an attempt to provide a wide range of choice for a selection of faith denominations. The directory contains details of online services, spiritual music, prayer meetings and other internet resources. Some are available to stream live online, some are available to watch anytime. Whilst this directory covers a wide range of faith resources and aims to provide information across a range of faiths it is recognised that some may have been omitted. Use in Care Homes, Hospitals and other Care SettingsIn particular, this resource is designed for use by care home staff and trust staff providing support to residents in care homes. As a resource it will be available to all others who may find in any way beneficial. The directory can be used to identify recordings or livestreams that individual or groups of residents may wish to watch or listen to. At a time when care staff may be exceptionally busy, it takes only a short time to find and start a recording. Care staff should consider and discuss the faith preferences of each individual resident. For residents less able to communicate, for example, a person with a progressed dementia, staff should be aware that the person may prefer listening to hymns over listening to spoken word.Multi-Cultural and Beliefs HandbookThis is a very useful regionally developed resource that provides guidelines for delivering services to people with different religions and/or beliefs. It includes general guidelines on cultural diversity, a culturally sensitive health and social care checklist, a section on spiritual and religious needs assessment.
