RULES OF ENGAGEMENT

For

Daily Operations

DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. County Fire shall be monitored from 0600 hours until 1900 hours.

2. S.C.B.A. to be maintained @ 2850 PSI Daily

3. S.C.B.A. shall be fully checked at the start of each assignment. (stand-by, etc)

4. All Career Fire Companies shall check apparatus daily using individual check off sheets per seat assigned (driver, nozzle, irons)

5. Booster Tank level shall be confirmed by using the tank lid on top of apparatus

6. Firefighters shall insure portable batteries are fully charged and carry one additional in radio pocket.

7. All Career Fire Companies shall carry daily roster on apparatus.

8. All Career Fire Companies shall conduct a formal daily roll call once on-duty (before 0800)

9. Station Duty boards shall be filled out using proper names and maintained in a professional manner.

10. All Career Fire Companies shall carry company Nextel while in station and out of station.

11. Patient Care Forms shall be filled out.

12. Pre-Fire Plans and Fire Hydrant inspections shall be conducted

13. Communicate with respective District Chief’s when out of District.

14. Career Fire Companies shall request Sig 15 when conducting any training and/or PR event.

15. Career Fire Companies shall stay together at all times while on-duty to include (13,19)

16. BC’S shall be contacted when leaving the state of Florida (Orange Beach, Flomaton, etc)

17. All Career Fire Companies shall maintain crew integrity and a crew of four

18. All Career Fire Companies shall conduct unified multi-company training every Monday night, (3 hours minimum) this means plan more than a week ahead.

19. All Career Firefighters and Officers are to stay in uniform and have bunker gear at apparatus until relieved

20. All Career Firefighters and Officers shall maintain Class B uniform and have available while on-duty to include swaps, OT, stand-bys, etc.

21. All Career personnel shall wear uniform in compliance with uniform policy

22. All Career Firefighters shall have Long sleeve button-up, Tie, and plain uniform pants (not BDU’s) available for department functions

23. While on-duty all Career Firefighters and Officers shall maintain uniformity (T-shirts match)

24. All Career Firefighters shall comply with uniform policy reference shorts, socks, etc

25. All Career Firefighters and Officers shall monitor county pager 24/7.

26. All Career Firefighters shall report to work ready to stay over. (Mandatory OT, etc)

27. All Career Fire Personnel shall memorize their performance evaluation objectives

28. All Career Firefighters and Officers shall get authorization to take A.L. per SOG.

29. All stand-bys and or swaps exceeding 1 hour shall be noted in tele-staff

30. All Firefighters shall comply with SOG reference, addressing Officers and fellow Firefighters.

31. When answering phone give station and/or company designation to include name rank.

32. All equipment request shall go through respective Battalion Chief and then Deputy Chief

33. Career Fire Companies should try to cook meals in Quarters.

34. Meals should be planned ahead of time and require minimal trips to the store

INCIDENT RESPONSE/SAFETY

35. Seat Belts are MANDATORY and there is ZERO TOLERANCE for this

36. All Firefighters and Officers shall don bunker gear before boarding apparatus (100%)

37. If dispatched while out in district stop and don bunker gear.

38. Bunker Gear shall be worn at all MVA’s and Gas leaks.

39. Drivers Shall don bunker gear before responding or once on-scene

40. All Incident Commanders should establish four person RIT TEAM A.S.A.P.

41. All Incident Commanders should establish rear sector A.S.A.P.

42. Command Officer’s should switch to CD (A.S.A.P.)

43. Fire Companies shall maintain and carry Thermal Imager at all necessary incidents

44. Driver’s Shall insure back-up line is stretched, once attack line is properly operating

45. PPV shall not be used as an offensive attack tool and should not be used until the fire has been determined to be under control.

46. Drivers shall assume the Safety Officer position until formally assigned.

47. All Fire Companies shall locate closest two hydrants

48. Elevators shall only be used when ascending above 7th floor on fires and/or AFA.

49. When using Elevator shall be in phase 2 (firefighter mode) and get off two floors below

50. Bunker Gear and/or Reflective vest shall be worn at all MVA’s

51. Use Apparatus and/or cones to protect Emergency Responders (park at 45 degrees)

52. All Career Firefighters shall carry portable radio in sling under bunker coat.

53. All Firefighters, Officers, and Chiefs shall use portable lapel microphones while operating at emergency scenes.

54. All Firefighters shall carry a minimum of 1 hand light and 1 hand tool while operating at fires.

55. Company Officers shall be the back-up position, on the initial attack line of structural fires

56. The second arriving Fire Company shall insure the back-up line has been stretched to back-up the initial attack line.

57. LT. Ackerman should be contacted reference any serious incident that may be in the media.
