WINDOWS VISTA Installation Instructions

Microsoft Vista – Special Installation Notes

Microsoft Vista HAS presented problems for many existing software programs in the non-Square Dance market.

1. You must DISABLE the User Account Control (UAC) in Vista to use DMM. This will return you to the security level present in Windows XP. If you are not willing to do this you cannot use DMM.

Open Control Panel

Under User Account and Family settings click on the "Add or remove user account"

Click on one of the user accounts, for example you can use the Guest account

Under the user account click on the "Go to the main User Account page" link

Under "Make changes to your user account" click on the "Change security settings" link

In the "Turn on User Account Control (UAC) to make your computer more secure" click to unselect the "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer"

Click the OK button.

You will be prompted to reboot your computer--do so when ready.

In order to re-enable UAC just select the above checkbox and reboot.

To use DigitalMusicMagician® in Vista or Windows XP, it’s pretty critical to have file extensions (.mp3, .doc, .pdf, etc) showing, not hidden. Here is how to make Vista show extensions for all file types.

Click Start

Select Control Panel

Select Classic View

Double-click Folder Options

Click the View Tab

Uncheck Hide Extensions for Known File Types

Click Apply button (at the bottom of the window)

Click Apply to Folders button (at the top of the window)

Click OK
