Project – World Geography
Travel Project – World Geography
You will be going on a trip by yourself to a foreign country. Each of you will plan a 7-day trip to your assigned country. This trip is not simply a “vacation” (meaning you aren’t just going to sit on a beach for the week, you must travel and see historical sites, museums, etc). Your trip should include:
• At least 5 places of historical significance
• At least 3 natural sites (rivers, oceans, mountains, etc)
• At least 1 national park
• At least 1 museum
Other than these guidelines, you can plan your own trip. Be sure to see the sites and do the other things you enjoy: sporting events, musical events, shopping, eating at good restaurants, etc.
This project is worth a major grade. All work should be saved to your google drive while completing the project.
Part 1. Itinerary
Your itinerary is your plan for your trip. It will include your travel plans and daily plan for your trip. You will have to do research to plan your events. Your plan must be detailed (ie: What is the name of the restaurant where you will eat lunch? Who will be playing in the soccer game you will attend?) You MUST use the attached travel itinerary form. If you lose it or need another one just go online to my website and print one.
Part 2. Passport Questions, Travel Advisories, Exchange rates, Political Map of Country
You must complete the questions over the passport, travel advisory, and exchange rate. You will have to search online to find some of the information. You will also need a political map of your country. Lastly, you will need to total up the money you spent on certain things listed below.
Part A – you will need to search online to answer the passport questions.
Part B - Check to make sure there are no travel advisories for your country. A travel advisory will tell you whether or not it is safe for you to travel to your country.
Use the following website:
Part C - What is the current exchange rate between the US dollar and the country where you are traveling?
Use the following website:
Part D – What was the overall amount of your trip including your flight, car rental, and hotel. Travel Dates should be from November 11, 2016 – November 18, 2016.
Sources:
You should use a variety of sources for information for your project.
Flight, car rental, and hotel information:
• You can use the major airlines websites and travel websites to choose your flight, car rental, and hotel information.
Helpful sites:
Researching the sites:
• Every country should have a travel and tourism bureau. Using a search engine like google, type keywords like “Paris Travel and Tourism” or “London Tourist Bureau”.
• Many of the travel guides have excellent websites that can provide you with information.
o – Has an excellent website that includes all sorts of information about your country of choice including background information, suggested hotels, and tourist sites that includes links to more information.
o – Includes travel information and suggested itineraries that will help you decide how to use your time. The suggested itineraries include maps.
o – Includes much of the same information as the above sites. Includes suggested itineraries, walking tours, a list of places to visit with links to more information.
Part 3. Brochure
You should use the Copy of Country in Southeast Asia template available in Google Docs. It MUST BE PRINTED, but it doesn’t have to be in color. The front and back can be two separate pieces of paper. (It doesn’t have to be one paper front and back)
