Your job is to create your own periodic table with groups and periods using objects, events, interests, etc. Your periodic table can be created from just about anything. When trying to categorize objects for your table, think about how elements are arranged on the Periodic Table of Elements. The Periodic Table of Elements is arranged by increasing atomic number. Individual periods contain elements with similar reactivity. Elements of a specific group have similar characteristics. Your periodic table should have similar organizational patterns. Items in groups and periods should be related.Directions: (Projects need to be on a full size poster board or tri-fold.) Create a periodic table with at least 8 Groups and 4 periods. Include a “Hydrogen” type object. This should be an object that is different from the rest, yet still related.Name your periodic table (be creative).Name the groups and periods in your periodic table (again be creative). Create a key that explains why the families and periods in your periodic table are grouped together. Be sure to also include what makes your “Hydrogen" object different from the rest and yet still part of your periodic table. (*In a key, bullets are appropriate.)Write at least 1 page comparing your periodic table to the modern Periodic Table of Elements. Make a prediction of the properties and placement of at least one undiscovered or additional item. Attach your essay to the back of your project. Guiding Questions for Essay: Describe the basis of your arrangement. (What unique characteristic(s) allows your objects to be arranged in their particular manner?) How is your arrangement of groups and periods similar to the Periodic Table of Elements? Explain. How is your arrangement different from the Periodic Table of Elements? Explain. Mendeleev created a periodic table of elements and predicted characteristics of missing elements. Make a prediction about an object on your table that has not yet been discovered (the object will follow the last known one on your table). Explain properties of the predicted object. You should provide detailed reasoning for why this particular object will fit onto your periodic table according to your arrangement.234950752284500519684099314000Grading RubricExceeds Meets Does Not Meet Groups and Periods(40 points)Groups and periods, including “hydrogen,” are clearly labeled and well organized.
