PURPOSE

The purpose of this document is to define the procedures for deleting a point from the Siemens APOGEE® Building Management System (BMS) at [INSERT LOCATION].

SCOPE

3 This procedure applies deleting a BMS points at the [INSERT LOCATION]. The BMS performs control and monitoring of validation (GMP) and non-validated (non-GMP) points throughout the [INSERT LOCATION] office and manufacturing space.

4 GMP BMS points may be added, modified, and/or deleting using this SOP under change control per SOP 123, “Change Control Procedure”. Such points shall be considered validated and will not require a separate qualification protocol if the following conditions are met:

5 Point deletion is performed under change control.

6 Point deletion is documented on the appropriate form (Form 1, “BMS Point Deletion Form”) and all steps are successful with any deviations resolved as evidenced by Validation review signature on each page of the executed form(s).

7 The change control associated with the BMS point addition, modification, and/or deletion has been closed with a signature by a Quality Assurance representative, indicating all change control implementation steps have been adequately performed.

DEFINITIONS

15 Graphics: Graphics is the Insight application that allows a user to create color graphics of the facility and equipment for point monitoring and point commanding.

16 Point Editor: Point Editor is the Insight application used to enter point information into the Insight. Insight can then monitor and control the equipment connected via the point. Point Editor is used to create a point, open and existing point, modify or delete an existing point, and set up point alarm management.

17 Program Editor: The Program Editor is an Insight application that allows you to create control programs using the Powers Process Control Language (PPCL). PPCL is the programming language used to write field panel control programs for building control and energy management functions.

RESPONSIBILITY

19 Validation is responsible for reviewing executed forms and supporting validation deviation initiation, investigation, corrective action and/or preventive action implementation, and closure.

20 Facilities Manager, or designee, is responsible for Insight Software administration, InfoCenter Suites.

21 The Facilities Manager, or designee, is responsible for coordinating system administration activities with Quality Assurance to ensure these activities do not adversely impact ongoing operations.

22 It is the responsibility of the Facilities Manager to ensure that all personnel performing system administration on the BMS are fully qualified, and are trained in the applicable Change Control procedures.

23 The Facilities Manager, or designee, may perform system administration on the BMS.

24 Quality Assurance is responsible for post-approving change control documentation.

27 Appropriate access rights to the Siemens APOGEE® BMS for the action to be performed

28 Appropriate training, experience, and PPE if performing changes in the field (e.g. removing wiring, removing tubing)

PROCEDURE

30 Deleting a BMS Point

31 Logon to the BMS Insight application as a user that has system administrator access rights to the Point Editor and the point being deleted

32 Record the name of the point to be deleted in Form 1, “BMS Point Deletion Form”.

33 Verify that the point is backed up in the InfoCenter Suite before deleting the point from the BMS and record the result in Form 1, “BMS Point Deletion Form”.

34 Log on to InfoCenter Administrator from the Windows Start menu

35 Select the row with Volume Name “Active” so that it’s highlighted.

36 Right-click on the Volume cell, select Open Volume and then Points to open the Points in window.

37 Verify the point to be deleted is in the list.

38 Attach a screen capture of the point shown in the end.

39 Run a Point Usage report to determine which PPCL programs use the point to be deleted and attach a copy to Form 1.

40 On the Insight toolbar, click the “Report Builder” button ([pic]).

41 Click “New” to open the “Create a Report” dialog box.

42 Select “Point Usage Report” from the list and click “OK” to open the “Point Usage Report” window.

43 In the Points section, click “Add” to open the “Object Selector” dialog box.

44 Select the point to be deleted, and click “OK.”

45 Click the “Run Report” button to generate the Point Usage report for the selected point.

46 Modify all programs listed in the Point Usage report to remove the points by deleting affected code. Attach a copy of as-found code and as-left code to Form 1. Record “N/A” if no affected programs.

47 Click the Program Editor icon to open the Program Editor.

48 Click Open to open the Object Selector.

49 Find the program to edit from the Point Usage Report.

50 Click OK to open the program in the Program Editor.

51 Print a copy of the as-found code.

52 Click Report Builder to open the Report Builder window.

53 Click New to open the Create a Report dialog.

54 Select Panel PPCL Report and click OK.

55 Under Programs, click Add to open the Object Selector dialog.

56 Find the Program Name and click OK.

57 Remove the wildcard character (“*”) from the Programs listbox

58 Click Run Report.

59 Navigate to the line(s) referencing the point to be deleted and comment out or delete the line(s)

60 Add a comment to the program header change log referencing the change control and/or protocol number.

61 Click Save to save the PPCL and click OK to Confirm PPCL Download.

62 Print a copy of the as-left code following steps 9.1.5.5.1 through 9.1.5.5.7.

63 Delete the point from Trend Collection reports. Record N/A if the point is not used in any Trend Collection reports.

64 On the Insight toolbar, click the “Report Builder” button ([pic]).

65 Click the “Open” button to open the “Object Selector” dialog box.

66 Select “Trend Collection” in the “Report” field and click “Find Now” to list all saved reports.

67 Select the Trend Collection report that contains the deleted point and click “OK” to open the report. Trend Collection reports cannot be searched for a particular point, so you may have to check each one manually. That information is typically included in the initial IOQ.

68 Select the point to be deleted from the “Points” window and click the “Remove” button. Click “Save” to save the changes.

69 Close the Trend Collection report.

70 Repeat steps 9.1.6.4 to 9.1.6.6 for each affected Trend Collection report.

71 Delete the point from all Insight graphics. Attach a copy of as-found graphic and as-left graphic to Form 1. Record “N/A” if no affected programs.

72 On the Insight toolbar, click the “Graphics” button.

73 Select the Graphics in which the point is located to open the Graphics.

74 Place the graphics in Edit Mode by click the Mode Toggle (..) button.

75 Select the point and right click the mouse and select Delete to delete the graphic.

76 Select File and Save

77 To close Graphics, select File and close.

78 Delete the point from the Insight database.

79 On the Insight toolbar, click the “Point Editor” button ([pic]).

80 Click “Point” and then “Delete Point” to open the “Object Selector” dialog box.

81 Select the point to delete.

82 Click “OK” to delete the point

83 Click the “Yes” button to confirm the deletion.

84 Enter change control and/or protocol number in the “Reason for Change” box and click OK.

85 Remove any unused instruments from the field and wiring from field panels. Record “N/A” if no instruments or wiring.

86 Update documentation and drawings, including FRS, panel drawings, wiring diagrams, etc. Record “N/A” if no affected documentation or drawings.
