Crabapple First Baptist Church Winter Basketball League

League Rules and Policy

League Mission:

THE KIDS COME FIRST! This is a semi-competitive league to provide an opportunity for primarily children who have not made their respective jr. feeder/school teams or are simply interested in a mission based recreational experience with church members.

The first and foremost governing rule is that the kids come first. We will always do what is in the best interest of the league regardless of team, age, coach or church/school affiliation.

Coaches Expectations: Most critical role because you have the relationship. Kids and parents will follow your behavior positively or negatively.

1. Lead, organize, model, teach, mentor, facilitate players and execute the mission of the league with regard to the game of basketball.

2. Disseminate and then collect signed by a parent participation and waiver forms from each player. (hand in to your director by November 14, 2014)

3. Communicate, organize and execute a weekly practice as well as the game schedule.

4. Be responsible for the conduct of the parents and fans associated with your team.

League Rules:

Games will be conducted in accordance with Georgia High School Basketball Coaches Association rules unless otherwise noted. Games will be forfeited if 4 players are not present by game time with a 5 minute grace period. We will always do whatever possible to ensure a game of some kind is played for the kids regardless of win/loss situation. (games may be played 5 on 4 or 4 on 4).

The site coordinator is in charge of that particular site and will implement and execute policy as well as be in communication with either the League Founder, Rick Jameson or League Commissioner, Bert Tucker if concerns do arise.

Fast break is defined by the defensive team (B) obtaining possession of the ball without a shot being taken by the offense (A) and then advancing rapidly. If a shot is taken by the offense (A) and the defensive team (B) gets the rebound they (B) are allowed to score as quickly as they want. However, in the natural course of getting back on defense (now Team A) they are allowed to defend the ball and Team B which is advancing the ball. This DOES NOT constitute a press.
