A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE TO THE SWANSEA HIGH SCHOOL JUNIOR VARSITY GIRLS SOCCER TEAM AND THEIR HEAD COACH, WILLIAM “SKIP” BROOME, ON WINNING THE 2004 REGIONAL SOCCER DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP AND TO COMMEND THEM FOR THEIR HARD WORK, COMPETITIVE SPIRIT, AND DEDICATION TO BECOME A CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM.

Whereas, being a member of a sports team allows young people to have the opportunity to learn the skills of cooperation and teamwork with developing great athletic talents; and

Whereas, to be a champion in soccer, all members of the team and coaching staff must have outstanding leadership and physical abilities; and

Whereas, with the guidance and leadership of Head Coach William “Skip” Broome, the girls junior varsity soccer team of Swansea High School faced intimidating opponents and tough matches but were rewarded with the chance to become Regional Champions; and

Whereas, along their journey to the championship game, the “Lady Tigers” enjoyed success in several competitions, and the Swansea Girls Junior Varsity Soccer Team has brought great pride to not only their friends and family but also to the students, faculty, alumni, and staff of Swansea and the community as a whole; and

Whereas, the members of this championship team include Amber Huffman, Natalie Parkman, Sarah Scott, Lillian Wyckoff, Whitney Lott, Hannah Anderson, Cally Baxley, Markie Stingle, Jill Davis, Jennifer Derrick, Kayleigh Williams, Brooke McGuire, Kiersten Taylor, Shannon Slyman, Krysta Nieradka, Brooke Dull, Kayla Raulerson, Sandra Mota, Nikki Mack, and Emily Parkman; and

Whereas, it is with great pleasure that we recognize the physical abilities of these young South Carolinians and hope that they will use their athletic skills and abilities in their future endeavors. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate extend their congratulations to the Swansea High School Junior Varsity Girls Soccer Team and their Head Coach, William “Skip” Broome, on winning the 2004 Regional Soccer Division Championship and commend them for their hard work, competitive spirit, and dedication to become a championship team.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Swansea High School Junior Varsity Girls Soccer Team and Head Coach Skip Broome.
