PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear Auburn Elementary Families,

Stop-Walk-Talk - All Auburn Elementary students are learning strategies for appropriately resolving conflict, solving problems, and dealing with disrespect by using the "Stop-Walk-Talk" procedure:

If a student does not like the way someone is treating or talking to him/her, the student has three options:

Tell the person to STOP o If someone tells you to stop, you MUST stop - just say "OK", and move on with your day. No big deal!

WALK away if the situation is not worth your time or energy TALK to an adult

o Say something like, "That person is bothering me even though I've asked him/her to stop."

By teaching students to follow this procedure, we hope to reduce incidents that result in student altercations and office referrals and keep Auburn Elementary a safe and positive learning environment.

We want our students in classrooms learning instead of sitting in the office waiting to talk with the principal because of an incident that escalated into a verbal or physical altercation.

The fewer students being referred to the office, the more the principal can be in the classrooms and on the playground, directly working with staff and students in a proactive rather than reactive manner.

We hope you will help by reviewing Stop-Walk-Talk at home and encouraging your students to use it on the playground, in the cafeteria, and in the classroom. Together, we can make sure Auburn Elementary is a safe and positive learning environment!

Donuts with Dudes It was great to see so many of you at the "Donuts with Dudes" event on September 28! A special "thank you" goes out to our PTC for providing another opportunity for the Auburn Elementary community to come together.

Data Confirmation

Finally, I know you have already received multiple reminders about this, but we truly need everyone to complete their online data confirmation so the school has our students' most current information. We are currently missing this information for about 140 out of 385 students. We have a parent kiosk available in our office if you'd like to come over and complete your data confirmation where we can provide you with immediate support. Thank you so much for taking the time to complete the data confirmation process and do not hesitate to call our office if you need any assistance!

2018 ? 2019 Student Council Officers Elections for Student Council Officers were held in September. We would like to congratulate everyone who campaigned and congratulate our new officers: Treasurer - Kayli Sellers, Secretary ? Jack Sivil, Vice President ? Maddie Knight and President ? Wava Studebaker. Way to go!

PTC News Please turn in fundraiser orders by October 3. Remember if we meet our sales goal, Mr. Schulz will dress up like a cookie! Online ordering for the fundraiser is available, enter the code edauburn and you can email the info to family and friends. Parent volunteers are needed for the Fall Festival on Friday, October 26. There will be plenty of games and activities including a costume contest! Please email PTC or contact the school office if you can help! Thank you for your support!

AEF Dinner The Auburn Education Foundation is having "A Taste of Italy" Dinner. This year the dinner will be held at Skyridge Elementary School on Thursday October 18th from 5:30-7:30pm. Prices: Adults $10; (Children 12 years of age and under) $5; Family Ticket $25 (2 adults, 2 children). Dinner choice: Spaghetti, (vegetarian available) salad, garlic bread & dessert. Take out dinners are available. There is also a Silent Auction and Opportunity Drawing with great prizes. Tickets are available through the school offices at Alta Vista, Skyridge, Auburn Elementary, Rock Creek, E.V. Cain and at the District Office.

DRESS UP DAY & COSTUME PARADE Auburn Elementary School students may wear costumes to dress up on Wednesday, October 31st. Please do not wear face paint, make up or masks. Students must be able to sit comfortably while wearing their costume. All school dress codes must be followed and students must wear appropriate shoes/clothing. No weapons or gory costumes. Students who do not follow these guidelines will call home for a change of clothes.

SQUARE 1 ART Please watch for Square 1 Art Fundraiser flyers to come home around October 19th. You can order items with your child's artwork featured. Orders will be due at the end of October. Proceeds will help support your child's classroom!

FROM THE ATTENDANCE DESK Please help your child to be at school daily and arrive on time. The bell rings at 8:45 and students are tardy at 8:50. If your child will be absent, please call the school at (530) 887-1958 ext. 8867 to report the absence. PLEASE NOTE: Auburn Union School District does not receive ADA for students who do not attend school, regardless of the reason. If your child is truly ill, please keep them home; Rest is the best thing for them. We do receive ADA however, for those students are here at school even if it for a small portion of the day. We do encourage you to schedule medical or dental appointments outside of school hours. If your student should have an appointment during the school day, they are encouraged to attend school before and/or after their appointment. Thank you for your support.

Box Tops for Education Please collect and send your Box Tops for Education to your child's teacher. We exchange these for cash for our PTC, which supports many school activities. Please send any Box Tops you may have to the school before September 17 so that we can meet the fall submission deadline. We thank you for your support! Keep saving your Box Tops over the winter and we will collect them again in the spring.

PARKING LOT After school pickup safety is always a priority. To maintain safety, please follow these simple steps: The right lane is for carpool and pick up, the left lane is for thru traffic. Please pull forward as the line moves and always remain in your car. Parents are also welcome to park and walk to the pickup area to meet their children. Please never park in the no parking zone on Lariat Ranch Road. Thank you for your continued support.
