from when we used to trade male deer (buck) skins for food or money. sawbuck ? It is a slang term for a ten dollar bill, coming from the an x-shaped holder for wood (a sawhorse) or the Roman numeral for 10 (X). Benjamin ? t is a slang term for a one hundred dollar bill, coming from Benjamin Franklin. Secretary of the Treasury ? It is the position in our government that is concerned with our money.
