right-6400800left30500Small Business Makeover ConsultantJob Description____________________________________________________________________________________________________The Small Business Development Center at Yavapai College seeks a consultant to manage and implement a special Small Business Makeover Program in the Quad Cities area of Yavapai County. The objective is to target businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and encourage them to apply for help in reinventing themselves. Reporting to the SBDC Director, the consultant will take lead responsibility in assisting small business owners to respond, recover and reinvent themselves in the new business environment. This position is funded by the CARES Act through September 30, 2021. The consultant will be an independent contractor, working remotely and utilizing his/her own computer and mobile phone while representing the Yavapai College SBDC to the Yavapai County business community. Program Details and Goals: Goal 1: Engage the small business community to define and prioritize their needs as it relates to strategies to help strengthen their businesses both during and after the pandemic (i.e. surveys, roundtables, focus groups). Goal 2: Develop and implement strategies to remove barriers to business success by coordinating and leading free online and in-person seminars and trainings through the SBDC at Yavapai College.Goal 3: Partner with local Chambers throughout the county to develop strategies to retain and strengthen small business growth and enhance educational opportunities for the business owner and staff.Goal 4: Participate in confidential one-on-one counseling sessions with SBDC business advisors as needed to ensure clarity of information and to support the business owner’s needs and business growth. Goal 5:Attract 60 new in-business customers to the SBDC for the purpose of achieving the following success metrics over the program’s 12-month period: Sales increase: 20% | Capital infusion: $1 million | Jobs created: 20 | Jobs supported: 120 | Clients served: 60Expertise neededBachelor’s degree in Management, Marketing, Finance, or Operations; Masters degree preferredAt least 5 years of prior work experience in a similar functionPrior small business ownership preferredCritical and strategic thinking and planning to support small business owners’ needs with access to capital, business planning, marketing, and operationsTech savvy to learn how to use confidential client database software (Center IC) and produce periodic reports of progress Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and using Zoom for online meetingsJob Responsibilities:Manage and coordinate the creation of a website landing page and registration in the program.Coordinate the production of program materials and advertising to promote the Small Business Makeover program to the small business community in the Quad Cities area.Track and report to the SBDC Director on a quarterly basis the program results and progress towards achieving specific goals for impact: capital infusion, job creation, sales increase, and jobs supportedAssist small business owners with use of LivePlan and other SBDC tools to apply for loans, create marketing strategies and manage their business more efficiently.Connect small business owners and their staff with consulting expertise, educational, and training opportunities to improve their business acumen, operations, and to show economic improvement during the 12-month period.Hours per week (20 per week).Community outreach via roundtables, personal contacts, attending local activities, etc.Requirements:Consultant must sign confidentiality form and may not share any client information with anyone.To Apply:Send email and resume to jeri.denniston@yc.edu.
