Small Business Program Director
Job Description
The Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Development Corporation (JPNDC) is a non-profit community development organization that focuses on economic development, affordable housing, and community organizing. JPNDC’s Small Business Program, in operation since 1997, has provided technical assistance to more than 900 entrepreneurs, helped local businesses access more than $10 million in financing for start-up, expansion and stabilization, and is one of the highest regarded small business technical assistance programs in the state, particularly in its provision of bilingual services to Latinos. Reporting to the Director of Programs, the Small Business Program Director is responsible for planning and implementing program activities related to JPNDC's business development goals.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct outreach to local businesses and merchants associations
• Provide one-on-one technical assistance to businesses
• Help entrepreneurs with loan packaging and provide post-loan technical assistance
• Develop and present workshops on topics of interest to the local business community
• Build and maintain relationships with banks and quasi-public financing institutions participating in business development, other business resource providers and advocacy organizations
• Develop program materials
• Supervise program staff and interns
• Track program performance
• Collaborate with other JPNDC economic development programs to implement integrated service delivery to target populations and participate in cross-marketing activities
• Work with other JPNDC department to advance business development
• Assist with fundraising efforts to support the program
• Participate in the Economic Development and Extended Management Teams
• Promote the Small Business Program and represent the JPNDC externally on economic development matters, as assigned by Director of Programs/Executive Director
• Other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Programs
Desired Qualifications:
• BA in business administration, accounting or related field
• Demonstrated experience in business development, particularly working with small businesses, and providing intensive technical assistance and loan packaging services
• Demonstrated success in business and financial planning, including feasibility analysis for new and existing enterprises
• Thorough understanding of business accounting, including analysis of financial statements, ratios, and forecasting
• Experience in economic development and community development
• Experience in program management
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities
• Computer Proficiency required (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point)
• Effective negotiation and problem resolution skills
• Ability to work with diverse constituents
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) highly preferred
Employment Terms/Compensation: This is a full-time position. Salary range: high $50’s to
high $60’s, depending on experience. Full benefits package
