REHABILITATION OF HIV/AIDS FOR RURAL WIDOWS AND ORPHANS INITIATIVE

MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission Statement is to advocate against the abuse of Widows, Orphans and women, human economic and reproductive rights especially those infected with HIV/AIDS in rural communities of Nigeria, thereby making women to know their rights, be economically viable and reduce spread of HIV/AIDS and also protect the rights of species through conservation activities.

MESSAGE FROM BOARD OF TRUSTEES:

My distinguished Trustees, registered and intending members, volunteer’s staff, donors and our women.

You may recall the reason behind the emergence of Rehabilitation of HIV/AIDS. Many women, when their husbands die, our culture and traditions demand that the now widow must remarry to the nearest relation to the late husband, must not take possession of husbands property, must continue to reproduced children for the new husband and be totally subjective to the new husband’s dictatorship. Many unemployed and unskilled widows sometimes resort to as commercial sex workers (C.S.W.), thereby contacting HIV/AIDS which have resulted in many vulnerable orphans and death of widows.

It was at this peak that some widows in different villages took to the market squares to protest against abuse of their human rights as a result of obnoxious culture and traditions.

Today, the war against abuse of women human rights, spread of HIV/AIDS, discrimination of women against some works, constant beating and abuse, are getting attention of policy makers in our villages, and I hope with increase in funding, hard work by the volunteers, staff and registered members, in near future, victory small be ours.
