ILC Social Injustice Research Project
Use to create your project. ***You must first write your paper in order to begin the Prezi portion of the project.
Project Requirements:
• Length 3:00-5:00
• Tone, diction, voice must be appropriate to topic
• Must include both photo/video and narration
Music is optional ( is a good source)
• Must use at least 3 informational sources (unlimited # of photo sources)
• Works cited page for all information. (Sources)
• essay will be written with citations (Teacher must approve before next step)
• Prezi storyboard will be completed (order of information & pictures with source information)
• Live introduction prior to showing project must include topic and brief discussion of research process (what worked, what didn’t work, what was an obstacle, etc.)
Structure of Project:
Introduction – Establish the existence of the chosen social injustice and how it is classified as a social injustice
Body – Develop and support problem, provide evidence; Consider using graphs, charts, powerful images, and primary source accounts
Conclusion – Name possible solutions or courses of action; wrap it up
Suggested Timeline:
Wednesday January 23:
Assign research project
Go over current event topics & have students brainstorm
Show sample projects so students get an idea
HW: Have three topics of interest with justification on Mon, Feb. 7
Week of February 24:
Narrow down topics of interest
Research Process
Week of February 4:
Begin Research; Complete abstracts; Work on Paper
Once paper is approved, complete storyboard
Input images into Prezi and narrate project based on essay
February 12-15: days in labs to wrap up projects (final touches)
February 21: ALL PROJECTS DUE! I grade projects in the order that I receive them therefor if you finish early TURN IT IN!

Research Project Checklist
Consider three topic choices
(Explore Human Rights Watch (), Center for Economic and Social Rights (), International Justice Mission () or other websites/brochures/magazines)
Narrow topic: ____________________________
Research and Collect information from at least 3 sources
Compile information into an essay based on the criteria set for the introduction, body, and conclusion (See Assignment Sheet). Essay should include parenthetical citations.
Complete a Work Cited page for all information and images used in project
Receive approval from Ms. Zaborowski based on essay and work cited
Complete storyboard for project based on the essay
Input images, graphs, text, etc. into Prezi based on the storyboard
Narrate Prezi based on the storyboard and essay
Save final project for presentation
Write introduction speech for the presentation
Essay, Work Cited, Prezi, and Introduction Speech turned in February 21st.
