Tourism in the Maltese Islands
Tourism is one of the main industries in our country. The number of tourists who visit us is growing every year, even though tourists have a wide choice of countries where they can spend their holidays.
The thousands of tourists who arrive in Malta each year can stay in one of the many hotels found all over Malta and Gozo. They can also rent an apartment or a holiday flat.
Many Maltese people work with tourists. Those who work in the tourism industry need special training. The Institute of Tourism Studies, in short ITS, offers many courses for those wishing to work in this industry.
Many foreign students also come to Malta from different countries, to learn the English language. In our islands, tourists can visit many historical sites, museums, churches, traditional feasts, exhibitions and concerts. Naturally, swimming and water sports can also be practiced.
We should always be well mannered with tourists and offer our help willingly and promptly. This will ensure tourists have a relaxing holiday and would be eager to return to visit us again.
