Job Description North Avenue Youth Centre

North Avenue Youth Centre exists to work with Young people in the area. It aims to engage them in a range of activities within the Youth Centre. Through these activities North Avenue Youth Centre aims to help Young People reach their potential.

Post Part Time Youth Worker

Contracted Hours 17.00 – 20.30 on agreed night (s)

Training As needed

Responsible to Youth Leader of particular night (s)

Job Purpose To help to run youth & community sessions

Main Activities To be a youth worker for designated sessions per week

A youth worker will:

a. Be a responsible and positive role model and work alongside the young people in the following activities: crafts; sports; drama; gardening; journalism; youth committee; young leader training; youth club; other project clubs

b. Interact with the young people

c. Encourage the young people to join in

d. Work as part of a team with other youth leaders and pitch in where necessary

e. Work in the tuck shop serving refreshment, taking money and ensuring the kitchen is left tidy. (When required)

f. Work at the entrance taking admissions, ensuring the young people sign in the Fire Records

g. Observe the young people to ensure a safe and unprejudiced environment

h. Take part in meetings, plan programmes with the other workers and volunteers

i. Carry out other responsible activities as requested by the session leader or the administrator
