(To solve a triangle means to all sides and all the angles

(We will always find side lengths to the nearest tenth,

And angles to the nearest tenth

EXAMPLE 1: Solve the given triangles

EXAMPLE 2: A lighthouse sits at the top of a sheer cliff. The top of the lighthouse is 33m above sea level. The angle of depression to sight a small fishing boat at sea is 24o. How far from the base of the cliff is the fishing boat, to the nearest metre?

EXAMPLE 3: The height to the top of a church is 52m. From a point level with, and 156m from, the base of the church, what is the angle of elevation to the top of the steeple, to the nearest degree?

EXAMPLE 4: The two guy wires supporting a hydro pole are each anchored 9m from the pole and form an angle of 47o with the ground. What is the total length of guy wire, to the nearest metre, needed to support this hydro pole?
