Group Options

A. Song – Choose a song that everyone in your group knows. Keep the tune and change the words. The words should inform the class on Ancient Greece. Perform for class, or tape or video.

B. News – A news broadcast that may have taken place in Ancient Greece if there were news programs then. You may include weather reports, events, commercials, etc. Perform or video.

C. Myths – act out a myth. You must have costumes, props, etc. Perform or video.

Individual Options

A. You may choose any of the group options.

B. Big writing/little picture - Choose 1 of the following topics/people: Sparta +/or Athens, Olympics, Democracy, Peloponnesian War, Greek Mythology, Greek art + architecture, Greek philosophers, Alexander the Great (you may make your own suggestions). Research and write a report (1-2 pages typed, double spaced, 12 font). Include a “drawn” picture on the cover page.

C. Big picture/little writing – same as above but poster sized picture and 3 – 5 sentences on topic.

Students can also suggest other ways that they may want to present their material on Ancient Greece. Some alternate past projects have included: dioramas, masks, models, etc.

Grading:

Projects will be graded by looking at several factors:

1) 20 points - Does it demonstrate sufficient knowledge on their topic(s)? (If students are unsure if the project has enough Ancient Greek content for the size of their group they should ask me.)

2) 10 points - Is there evidence of effort and preparation?

3) 10 points - Was the project handed in on time?

4) 10 points – Is the final product neat and organized?

We went over many examples and questions in class to show the students exactly what was expected. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.
