It will deliver a tight and focused hour or so of progression gameplay with a good deal of replayability through dynamic visuals and scoring leaderboards. It is Dance Central with characters from Episodes 4-6 set in movie places that Star Wars fans know and love. The mode will feature high quality soundalike versions of popular pop/dance tunes with small changes to the lyrics to reflect the Star Wars setting. The design should allow for scaling up to a light “Destiny” mode similar to the other career modes, though the primary focus will be on an integrated “Quickplay”/”Career” experience very similar to Dance Central.Design PillarsConnect with the Star Wars Universe – Relive some of the most memorable moments and interact with iconic characters from the movies.Music that Moves You – Music is made up of recognizable, popular dance tunes that get you off the couch and make you want to move.Lightweight, Fun Activity – While this mode features a full progression system similar to Dance Central, DWTSW is first designed to be a “Quickplay” type of experience allowing for an easy in and easy out experience with short duration sessions. The experience will appeal to Hyper Socials with physical, dance gameplay and fans of the universe with its referential material.Features1-2 Players (Asynchronous Co-Op or Competitive)12-16 Songs12-16 Dance Routines50-60 Individual Dance Moves Based on Iconic Star Wars Moments4 Remix Challenge Dance Routines5 Venues/Dance Floors10 Playable Characters~1 Hour “Golden Path” Content LengthSetting“A Jedi’s strength flows from the Force.”Dance is all about feeling the beat and expressing what the music makes you feel. Essentially, the beat is like the Force; it surrounds us, compels us, and gives us strength. For the greatest dancers in the Star Wars universe, being in synch with the beat is being one with the Force. When multiple people are at one with the beat it shows that the Force binds the galaxy together. In this sense, dancing flash mobs are a symbol of this unity, this binding.Players of Dancing with the Star Wars will get to choose a dancer who participates in dance flash mobs and hops between planets to express their feeling of the Force. Dancing erupts in random places across the galaxy and players are challenged to be at one with the beat while encountering dance moves they might not have seen before. After the fun and excitement are over, the mob quickly disperses only to reappear somewhere else in the galaxy to continue the celebration of dance. The player will be treated with short sequences of flash mobs dancing in each of the venues described below as an intro cinematic upon playing it for the first time to help set the stage for the entire mode. As this mode is intended to remain lightweight, the fictional basis for the mode is intentionally open ended with players ready to head off to the next flash mob event.Dance VenuesDance Venues are the locations where the gameplay takes place. Venues will be in roughly the Episode 4-6 timeline and focused on iconic scenes from the movies of that timeline. There are five venues which are generally interior spaces to mimic the emotive design of popular nightclubs/dance floors. An establishing exterior shot will also be used for each location to further the relevance to Star Wars fans.Once inside the venue and dance gameplay begins, visuals will begin to get progressively more like the Coruscant nightclub or a modern dance club. Laser lights, smoke, and other dynamic visuals tied to the beat of the music will be added to scene where appropriate.Music will be loosely tied to genres of music that are representative of the visual and cultural themes that are present in the locations.Design GoalsIconic visuals and settings that Star Wars fans know and loveLighthearted and fun atmosphere that encourages as a safe and positive vibeVenuesBespin – Carbonite Freezing ChamberMusical Themes: Disco, Funk, Electronica, TechnoExample: Village People - YMCA Characters: BossLando CalrissianDancersLobotBespin Wing GuardsStorm TroopersCrowdBespin Wing GuardsUgnaughtsStorm TroopersDarth VaderBoba FettPrincess Leia Organa (Bespin costume)Han Solo (Bespin costume)Chewbacca with C3P0 partsTatooine – Jabba’s PalaceMusical Themes: Jazz, Latin, Pop Dance, RockExample: Jamiroguai - Canned HeatCharacters: BossBoba FettDancersOolaPrincess Leia Organa (Slave costume)Bib FortunaCrowdJabba the HuttGamorrean GuardsSalacious CrumbSy SnootlesMax ReboDroopy McCoolJawasRodiansHumansEndor – Ewok VillageMusical Themes: Tribal, Jamaican/Reggae/DancehallExample: Sean Kingston – Fire BurningCharacters: BossChewbacca DancersWicket WarrickLograyWedge AntillesCrowdEwoksAnakin Skywalker (as a Ghost)Yoda (as a Ghost)Obi-Wan (as a Ghost)C-3POR2-D2Princess Leia Organa (Endor party costume)Luke Skywalker (Endor party costume)Han Solo (Endor party costume)??? In addition, the player will unlock a number of playable characters that are similarly iconic to the Star Wars universe and are extant in the Episode 4-6 timeline. The player will have a number of “generic” themed humanoid characters to play at the start of the mode and will unlock iconic characters as they progress through it.Here is a list of the proposed iconic characters that will appear either as dancers, unlocked playable characters or background characters.Iconic DancersLando Calrissian – BespinLobot – BespinBoba Fett – Jabba’s PalaceOola – Jabba’s PalacePrincess Leia Organa – Jabba’s PalaceBib Fortuna – Jabba’s PalaceChewbacca – Ewok VillageWicket Warrick – Ewok VillageLogray – Ewok VillageWedge Antilles – Ewok VillageEmperor Palpatine – Emperor’s Throne RoomDarth Vader – Emperor’s Throne RoomHan Solo – Coruscant Night ClubUnlockable Iconic Playable CharactersPrincess Leia – Hoth OutfitPrincess Leia – Bespin OutfitStorm TrooperImperial GunnerBackground CharactersR2-D2C-3POLuke SkywalkerYoda (as a Ghost)Obi-Wan (as a Ghost)Anakin Skywalker (as a Ghost)Jabba the HuttSalacious CrumbMax ReboSy SnootlesDroopy McCoolBespin Wing GuardsStorm TroopersGamorrean GuardsJawasRodiansRoyal GuardsInner CircleSate PrestigeTwi’leksHumansIthoriansArconaUgnaughtsEwoksMusicLicensed Songs with Lyrical ChangesThe player’s familiarity to the musical content and relevance to the dance genre is an important factor in the overall enjoyment of this mode. While licensed pop/dance music is not completely necessary for this mode to exist (some recognizable music or themes from the movies can be used) having it will certainly broaden the experience out to more than just the core Star Wars fans. The intention, then, of licensed songs with lyrical changes would be to drive interest in this mode to the people most apt to participate in this type of game mode (dance fans) through music that is relevant to them and secondarily drive interest to fans of the Star Wars universe through Star Wars related visuals and lyrics. An example of this would be to take the 70’s hit dance tune, YMCA by the Village People, and change it to YODA. Keep the music fairly the same (perhaps modernizing the soundscape a bit for current audiences), but change out the lyrics and you have an instantly recognizable dance song that is relevant to both dance fans and Star Wars fans.Familiar songs to dance fans would naturally be hit dance songs for the specific demographics. As Storm is targeting a super broad set of demographics (Star Wars fans of all ages) the song selection should somewhat reflect this with a filter of focusing on the younger, more active dance fans (Hyper Social Teens). That would give us a song list heavy on the post-2000 dance hits with a few nods to the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. Some examples include:Village People, YMCA – YODA Gwen Stefani, Hollaback Girl – Hollagram GirlCascada, Evacuate the Dance Floor – Evacuate the Death StarCyndi Lauper, Girls Just Want to Have Fun – Droids Just Want To Have FunTaio Cruz, Dynamite – CarboniteJason Derulo, Ridin Solo – I’m Han SoloFlo Rida, Club Can’t Handle Me – Force Can’t Handle MeNelly, Hot in Herre – Hoth in HerreSean Kingston, Fire Burning – Jedi Burning (Somebody call Obi-Wan…)Ricky Martin, Livin’ La Vida Loca – Livin’ La Vida BobaDance MovesMove ListTo get the connection to the Star Wars universe that is a key principle for this mode, the dance moves or at the very minimum the dance move names should be reminiscent of either a memorable moment in the movies or an iconic character. The Emperor – Both hands in front of body about shoulder height, right hand higher, fingers apart, hands shaking, then switch to left hand higherSand People – Both hands above head pumping up and down, normal stanceThe Yoda – Both hands in front near waist (like holding a cane) bob left to rightThese Aren’t the Droids – Wave left to right (right hand) then right to left (left hand), open stanceFire When Ready (Death Star dudes) – Hand above head and pull down or in front of body and pull back, left foot forwardHan Shot First – Shooting from the hip ................
