Admission/Course Planning Guide ? Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS)

Associate in Applied Science Degree

This 71 credit-hour program prepares students as a diagnostic medical sonographer who works in hospitals and physician offices. After degree completion, the student is prepared to seek employment as a diagnostic medical sonographer performing ultrasound examinations of the abdomen, pelvis, pregnant uterus, blood vessels, neck, chest and extremities to assist the physician in the diagnosis of numerous types of diseases.

This is a limited enrollment program and has special requirements. Students must check the website ( ) for current information as online information is constantly updated to reflect changes. Attendance at a Diagnostic Imaging Information Meeting is mandatory prior to application. At this meeting the following topics will be covered: career overview, curriculum plans, preparing for admission, and admission policy. Deadline for Fall 2021 is February 1, 2021. An application to Harper, a program application for the DMS program, as well as a valid NLN exam score must be submitted by the deadline.

The following course recommendations are prerequisites for admission to the class entering Fall 2021.
