College Fair Tips & Questions



TESTING: Sophomore through Senior Year

SOPHOMORE YEAR:

• PSAT-10 in Spring if offered by your school.

• Pre-ACT School may offer at any time. May have to do on your own.

• PFT Test: Spring (Must pass in 9th or 10th grade or must take 2 more years of PE.)

• CAASPP tests (Testing: April, May)

• Optional: AP Testing in May

• Finals: January & June

• Optional in June: SAT II Subject tests if just completed class. (See Junior Year for more info.)

JUNIOR YEAR:

• PSAT/NMSQT: “Practice SAT & National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test” October. Sign up at School.

• Pre-ACT: If you didn’t take in Sophomore Year.

• SAT or ACT or both in Winter/Spring:

- Traditionally, January, March, May or June

- Sign up online.

- SAT II Subject tests not required for CSU or UCs. Private schools and competitive majors/programs can require 1-3 and/or particular subject. (Many take in June)

• CAASPP Testing (Testing: April, May)

• AP Testing: May.

• Finals: January & June.

SENIOR YEAR:

• Retake ACT or SAT and SAT subject tests in Fall if necessary. August*, September, October, November and December at latest. NOTE: Some schools don’t take December scores.

• No CAASPP testing!

• AP Testing: May

• Finals: January & June

NOTE: For the Class of 2018 and later, the SAT will be offered in August (for the first time in August 2017) and the January SAT will be eliminated (for the first time in January 2018.) The ACT will be offered for the first time in July, 2018.
